RAW Supershow [78%]April 2nd, 2012LIVE from Miami, FLAnnouncers: Micheal Cole & Jerry "The King" Lawler
- The first Raw after a stacked Mania opened up in the office of newly appointed Raw & SD General Manager, John Laurinaitis with the various members of Team Johnny at Mania having a victory celebration of sorts in his office. Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, The Miz, Jack Swagger, Vickie Guerrero, David Otunga, Mark Henry, and the jezebel Eve Torres happily chatted amongst each other while stuffing their faces with cake before being shushed by Big Johnny as he prepared to give his victory speech. The former head of Talent Relations said that that a new era was upon WWE and it couldn’t have been possible without the people standing in his office right now! After a brief applause, Johnny informs the seven official members of his team that they all have earned one favor from Big Johnny that they can cash in at any time. In addition to that, he was giving everybody on his team the night off , with pay of course, and encouraged them to explore the beautiful city of Miami on his dime. As the team collectively cheered and filed out of the room to enjoy their free night of leisure, The Miz stayed behind and informed the GM that he didn’t want the night off. He wanted to cash in his favor to receive a match tonight; a WWE Championship match against CM Punk! When asked by Mr. Laurinaitis if he was sure he wanted to use his favor so soon, The former reality show star said that this time last year, he was the WWE champion. He was coming off the biggest victory of his career after beating John Cena at WM. “The spotlight was right where it belonged; hanging over THE Must-See Superstar in WWE, The Miz!” After having a fall from grace over the past year or so, The Miz was ready to put the spotlight back on himself. Miz said that he knew that CM Punk couldn’t possibly be 100% just 24 hours removed from an exhausting battle against Chris Jericho and he was fully prepared to capitalize on it, similar to how he capitalized on Randy Orton’s injuries when he cashed in MITB in 2010 to win the WWE title. The former WWE champion was granted his favor and exited the office as the show cut to the opening intro and pyro. [79%]1. The opening match of the night was a rematch of sorts as Primo & Epico defended their tag team titles against The Usos. Jimmy & Jey looked to make the most of their second chance at championship glory in two nights as they rattled the champions with their fast-paced offense. The champions weren’t pushovers by any means but the Usos were on top of their game on this night and managed to stay one step ahead of the champion for a good chunk of the match. The difference maker, however, turned out to be Primo & Epico’s valet, the sultry Rosa Mendes. A quick trip up to Jey as he tried to bounce off the ropes was the beginning of the end for the Usos as they were never able to truly recover their momentum. Although the Usos tried to make a comeback, it wasn’t long before Jimmy ate a Backstabber from Primo and was pinned for a three count. [64%]- A scheduled match between Daniel Bryan and R-Truth never got underway as Bryan brutally attacked his opponent as he was rapping his way down to the ring! A frantic AJ Lee’s pleas for her boyfriend to calm down fell on deaf ears as Bryan viciously assaulted Truth, repeatedly tossing the conspiracy theorist against the barricade and kicking him in the face and chest. It was only after smashing Truth’s head against the steel ringpost that he felt satisfied enough to enter the ring and demand a microphone. [83%]- As medics attended to Truth on the outside, Daniel Bryan screamed that what happened at Mania was nothing but a fluke! According to Bryan, the only reason why he was defeated so quickly was because that Irish brute Sheamus attacked him when he wasn’t ready, proving that the new WHC was a coward. “Over the last 24 hours, all I’ve heard is ‘18 seconds this’ and ‘18 seconds that’. I’m sick of it! I AM NOT A JOKE! I am a world class athlete that was ROBBED of what is rightfully mine!” Bryan said that he was cashing in his rematch clause this Friday on Smackdown and make sure that everyone forgets about the “18 Seconds” incident and Sheamus’ “fluke of a title reign.” Seemingly in support of Bryan, the crowd chanted “YES!” over and over again. The extremely paranoid Bryan took it another way, however, and screamed for the crowd to “quit mocking me!” [85%]2. In a short match, Kelly Kelly joined forces with Layla to take on The Bella Twins. Having the experience edge when it comes to teaming, the Bellas managed to isolate Kelly from her partner and control most of the match, taking time out to mock both their opponents and the crowd with loser L’s. The babyfaces soon rallied back, however, and a hot tag to Layla lead to the British Diva coming in as a proverbial house of fire and cleaning house. A Lay-Out Neckbreaker to Nikki gave Layla and Kelly the win. [63%]- After a brief graphic let the crowd know that the Rock would be on Raw TONIGHT to talk about his historical victory over John Cena at Mania, the show cut to the back where Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, and Vickie Guerrero were preparing to leave the arena to enjoy their paid night off. As the trio walked through various corridors talking about their plans for the night, Ziggler made a sharp turn around a corner and accidentally bumped into Brodus Clay who appeared to be working on some new dance moves. The Funkasaurus, accompanied by the Funkadactlys Naomi & Cameron, tried to brush off the collision but Vickie began insulting him for not watching where he and his little “hoochie mamas” were walking. Offended by the disrespect shown to his dancers, the usually jovial Clay menacingly warned Ziggler & Swagger that they shouldn’t let their manager “write checks that their asses couldn’t cash.” Despite having her men having a two-on-one advantage, Guerrero was intimidated by the shift in tone from the large man and quickly hurried her men off in a different direction while Clay glared at their retreating backs. [77%]3. In a battle of high-flyers, Sin Cara took on the Dreadlocked Dynamo, Kofi Kingston. With both men being fan-favorites, the crowd was split as both men traded acrobatic moves. Kingston’s natural athleticism made him a perfect match for Cara’s lucha-based offense leading to a highly competitive back-and-forth match. The see-saw battle came to an end when Cara made one mistake too many by crashing and burning on an attempted springboard off the ropes. Cara dragged himself up to his feet only to stumble into a Trouble in Paradise from Kingston, giving the former IC champion the victory. After the match, Kington tried to help Cara to his feet but was angrily pushed off by his opponent. As Cara left a confused Kingston in the ring, the announcers speculated on what could be going through the mysterious luchador’s head. [69%]4. Cody Rhodes looked to rebound from his IC title loss the previous night as he went after his former mentor Randy Orton in the early goings of their match. Having also experienced defeat at Mania, Orton came into the match with a chip on his shoulder and was willing to match Rhodes blow for blow. With both men being so familiar with one another, neither one was able to gain a clear advantage until Rhodes used his superior technical ability to force Orton to the mat and grounded the Viper. TAFKA “The Dashing One” used chinlocks and headlocks to sap Orton’s strength but the former 9-time World Champion refused to die and constantly fought his way out of the holds with punches and kicks before being taken down to the mat again. Orton’s fortunes changed when he managed to get up to a vertical base while still locked in a headlock and bring Rhodes crashing down to the mat with a Back Suplex. From there, the Viper seemingly found his stride as he tore through his former protege with Clotheslines and strung together several of his signature moves including a Hanging DDT from the ropes. To his credit, the former IC champion persevered and managed to push Orton off him when he went for the RKO. With Orton dazed, Rhodes springboarded off the ropes and caught his opponent in the side of the head with a Beautiful Disaster kick for a close near-fall. Sensing that victory was near, Cody dragged Orton to his feet and put him in position for the Cross Rhodes. Being the wily veteran that he is, The Viper managed to slip out of the hold and catch an unsuspecting Rhodes with the RKO! The crowd counted along with the ref as his hand slapped the mat three times and he awarded the victory to The Apex Predator. [77%]- As Randy Orton celebrated his victory in the ring, he was cut off by the appearance of Kane on the titantron as the lights in the arena dimmed. Kane appeared to be in a dark, undisclosed part of the arena with only a small flame in his hand illuminating his face. The Big Red Machine mockingly congratulated Orton on his victory before reminding the Viper that he lost to him at Mania the previous night. Kane said that this was proof that Orton had gone soft.” “Maybe it was the wife, maybe it was the baby girl, but something caused you to stop being the cold, methodical, ruthless individual that did whatever it took to succeed in WWE.” Despite being victorious at Mania, Kane said he wasn’t through with Orton and that he wasn’t going to stop until he learned to embrace the hate again and returned to his former self. “You and I both know that you are a monster, Randall. No matter how much you want to hide it, you are no different than me.” With those chilling words, the titantron went black and the arena lights came back on to reveal a fuming Orton standing in the ring. [88%]5. Just 24 hours removed from his title defense against Chris Jericho, CM Punk was forced to defend his WWE championship again against The Miz in the night’s main event. True to his word, Miz took full advantage of Punk’s weakened state as he picked the champion apart, particularly focusing in on Punk’s arm so as to avoid Jericho’s fate at Mania by being forced to submit to the Anaconda Vice. Aware of the huge disadvantage he was at, Punk tried to keep the challenger at bay and prevent him from dealing too much damage with Muay Thai kicks. Punk’s body soon failed him, however, as he faltered on a Springboard Clothesline which allowed the Miz to fully hone in on the champ’s arm. Despite his sound strategy, the former reality star was seemingly unable to put the champion away and was visibly frustrated when Punk kicked out of a Skull Crushing Finale. Seemingly feeding off the crowd’s energy, Punk managed to fight his way back into the match and was soon lighting up the Miz’s chest with knife edge chops in the corner before sending the challenger down to the mat with a stiff clothesline. The Randy Savage-inspired Elbow Drop off the top rope that followed wasn’t enough to secure the champion the victory causing the Straight Edge Superstar to instinctively try to slap on the Anaconda Vice. With his arm hurting, however, Punk was unable to get a good grip on the hold allowing Miz to easily escape it. In what was perhaps an act of desperation, Punk went swinging for the fences to as he attempted to kick Miz in the side of the head but the reality star had the move well scouted. He ducked under the move and caught the champion with a Schoolboy Rollup that saw the reality star grab a handful of tights unbeknownst to the ref! Somehow, Punk managed to get out of the move before the ref’s count hit three. As both men scrambled to their feet, Punk was the first one up and managed to nail Miz with that kick to the head he was initially looking for. This left Miz dead on his feet giving Punk all the time he needed to muscle Miz up, ignoring the pain in his arm, and bring him crashing down on his knee with the GTS! Punk all but fell on Miz for the cover and the victory. Unfortunately for Punk, the ref couldn’t even hand him his championship belt before he was smashed in the back of the head with a bottle of Jack Daniels! Clutching the back of his head, Punk writhed in pain amongst the alcohol and broken shards of glass as Chris Jericho stood over him with a cold look in his eyes. Grabbing the championship belt from the ref, Jericho looked at the belt longingly before dropping it onto Punk’s fallen body with a look of disgust on his face and silently exiting the ring to enormous boos from the crowd. [78%]- After having his appearance hyped up all throughout the night, The Rock electrified his hometown crowd as he entered the ring to a massive pop to discuss his battle with John Cena the previous night. After letting the crowd chant his name and doing his usual schtick where he says that he has “finally” come back to Miami, Rocky gets down to business and says that April 1st, 2012 will forever be immortalized as the night that two of the greatest superstars to have ever laced up a pair of boots, John Cena and The Rock, clashed in a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. The Rock put Cena over, saying that “The Champ” had given him one of, if not, the greatest fights of his life at Mania but in the end, it was the Great One that came on top and proved that he was the better man. Despite all the trash-talking that the two had done in the weeks leading up to Mania, however, Rocky insisted that he respected the hell out of Cena and that he didn’t come to Raw tonight to gloat (“Well...maybe a little.”, joked the Rock). He showed up to Raw tonight because he wanted to put all the bullcrap aside, look Cena straight in the eye, and shake his hand like a man in front of the whole world. Sticking his hand out, Rock invited Cena to come down to the ring. “No tricks, no sneak attacks, no surprise Rock Bottoms, none of that crap. All I want to do is shake your hand, John.” Several seconds passed by as the announcers speculated on whether or not Cena would come down and accept the Rock’s gesture. Despite the Rock repeatedly saying that it’s not a trick, there was still no sign of Cena. After 20 seconds or so, the crowd began booing loudly as the Rock shook his head and prepared to exit the ring. Suddenly, music began playing. Although it sent the crowd into a frenzy, the music didn’t belong to John Cena. No, the theme belonged to a man who hadn’t been seen in WWE in years… BROCK LESNAR. Shocked doesn’t even begin to describe the Rock’s reaction as the former WWE and UFC Heavyweight champion sauntered out onto the stage in sweatpants and a shirt with the Jimmy John’s logo on it. Brock’s intentions were soon made clear as he rushed down to the ring and began to attack the Rock! The Great One tried to fire off some shots off his own but was quickly overwhelmed by Lesnar and soon found himself hoisted onto the Beast’s shoulders for a devastating F-5! To the surprise of many, it was actually John Cena that tried to help the Rock as he ran out from the back and began lighting up Lesnar with punches. Although Lesnar was initially rattled, he quickly shrugged off The Champ’s blows and soon left Cena laying with another F-5. Despite all the carnage around him, Lesnar decided that he wasn’t satisfied after spotting the Rock struggling to get back up to his feet. The Beast quickly took Rock back down to the mat and locked him in some kind of armlock. After a brief struggle, Lesnar violently reared back on the hold as an audible snap was heard. Based off the Rock’s screams after he was released from the hold and the way he was clutching his arm, the announcers deduced that Lesnar may have just broken the Rock’s arm! Monday Night Raw ended not with a handshake between Cena and Rock but with Brock Lesnar standing over the men that had headlined the biggest show of the year with a huge smirk on his face. The Beast was back. [88%]

Interesting starting point. Hopefully, we'll see what we should've seen in 2012: a downward spiral for Cena and how he handles it emotionally, rather than Super-Cena shrugging it off like nothing.

Smackdown [83%] April 6th, 2012 TAPED from Miami, FL Announcers: Josh Matthews & Booker T
- The show opened up with a video recap of the closing moments of Raw when BROCK LESNAR made his shocking return to WWE and laid out both John Cena and The Rock. After the video had aired, the announcers solemnly confirmed that Lesnar did, in fact, break the Rock’s arm with the armlock submission he applied on Monday. Due to his injuries, the announcers stated that it could be months before The Great One returns to WWE TV. John Cena, however, is scheduled to speak on the attack next Monday on Raw. [93%]
1. Coming off a stinging loss to CM Punk on Monday, The Miz seemed like he was taking out his frustrations on an unsuspecting Sin Cara in the night’s opening match. Making full use of the rare weight advantage that he possessed, The Miz had his way with the luchador as he hammered away on a defenseless Cara, even going as far as to rip at the luchadore’s mask at one point. After weathering the initial storm of offense from his opponent, Cara relied on his speed to string together some offense of his own causing the Miz to take a powder to the outside in an attempt to regain his bearings after a particularly rough Hurricarana. This plan backfired as it simply gave Cara an excuse to bring the crowd to their feet with a Tope Con Hilo! After rolling his opponent back into the ring, the luchadore continued to rattle the former WWE champion with his unique offense and came close to securing a victory with a Swanton Bomb off the top rope. Knowing that he was in a bad way, the self-proclaimed “Most-Must See Superstar in WWE” used an underhanded tactic and pulled Cara’s mask around so that the luchadore couldn’t see! Blinded, Cara had no way to stop the Miz from catching him with a Skull Crushing Finale for the win. [82%]
- After the match, The Miz cut a short promo in the ring saying that even though he lost to CM Punk on Raw, it was only a matter of time before he was wearing championship gold again. “Because I’m The Miz and I’m not just awesome. I am a champion!” [96%]
2. Even though the Divas title wasn’t on the line, Kelly Kelly certainly fought like it was in her match against the champion Beth Phoenix. K2 went right after her opponent as soon as the bell rung but was repeatedly swatted away by the Glamazon. To her credit, Kelly didn’t let up and continued to do her best to daze her opponent with elbow strikes to the face. Unfortunately for Kelly, the size difference soon proved to be too much as Beth flattened her with a clothesline as she tried to bounce off the ropes. The match only went another minute or so before Beth crushed Kelly with the Glam Slam for the duke. After the match, Beth and her partner-in-crime Natalya tried to inflict more damage on Kelly but were stopped by Layla who ran down to the ring for the save and cleaned house! [72%]
- The show cut from the ring to the interview pit backstage where Cody Rhodes was standing by with Scott Stanford. Speaking for the first time since losing the IC title to the Big Show at Wrestlemania, Rhodes admitted that he had underestimated The Big Show last Sunday and it had cost him his Intercontinental championship. The second generation superstar said that he would be cashing in his rematch clause soon, however, and when he did, the IC crown was coming back where it belonged. Suddenly, Rhodes was interrupted by half-brother Goldust who walked into the camera frame. Seeing the glare that his estranged brother was giving him, Goldust quickly tried to defuse the tense situation by saying that he had no bad intentions and only wanted to help his brother regain the title he lost. When asked by Cody how he could possibly help, Goldust responded that he knew a little something about …*shudders* gold. Goldust reminded Cody that he was a former IC champion himself and that he had decades of wisdom and experience that he wanted to pass onto Cody. Much to Goldust’s annoyance, his younger brother simply blew Goldust off and left the interview pit after telling him that he wanted to nothing to do with his “freak of a brother.” [79%]
3. The United States champion Santino Marella was in action next as he teamed up with the Boom Squad General Kofi Kingston to take on Vickie Guerrero’s clients, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger. As Kingston and Ziggler locked up to start the match, the announcers mentioned that Swagger was cashing in his “Big Johnny Favor” on Raw next Monday to receive another United States Championship match against Santin. After seeing Kingston get the best of his partner after an impressive chain wrestling display, Swagger tagged into the match and used his collegiate wrestling background to ground the high-flyer and put him on the defensive. From there, the match fell into a typical tag team match formula as the heels cut the ring in half and isolated Kingston from his corner as Santino did his best to get the fans rallying behind the Dreadlocked Dynamo to make a tag. The Milan Miracle got his wish when Kofi kicked out of a Swagger-attempted Ankle Lock and all but jumped to his corner for the hot tag! Vickie didn’t seem too concerned at ringside when Santino tagged in but worry quickly filled her face as her clients had no response for the US champion’s unorthodox style. After Ziggler was taken out of the equation by Kofi after a Crossbody sent both men flying over the top rope, Santino placed a sock in his hand and measured Swagger for the Cobra! Before the Cobra could strike, however, Vickie hopped on the apron and began arguing with the ref over something. Santino considered turning his Corba on Vickie but was stopped by Swagger, who capitalized on his manager’s distraction by bringing the champion crashing to the mat with a Gutwrench Powerbomb. Vickie quickly got off the apron as the ref made the three count and awarded the victory to her men. Thanks to the “Cougar”, Swagger had picked up some much needed momentum heading into his US title shot on Monday. [81%]
- After a commercial break, the show came back to the ring where Drew McIntyre, dressed to compete, was standing in the ring with a mic in hand. Seemingly full of confidence due to the “Big Johnny Favor” in his back pocket, McIntyre said that “his” (the announcers quickly pointed out that his TEAM won, not just McIntyre himself) victory at Wrestlemania was just what he needed to get back on the winning track after a few lackluster months. In fact, he was feeling so good after his Mania victory that he was issuing an open challenge to anyone in the back to face him right now. The Chosen One’s confidence quickly evaporated when the music of newly crowned Intercontinental champion The Big Show blasted throughout the arena! The Scot quickly retreated from the ring as Show entered it and seemed very fearful of the giant. Still, a ref ran down to the ring and called for the bell, making this an officially sanctioned match! [78%]
4. Although it wasn’t through lack of trying, Drew McIntyre never managed to get much going against Big Show in a match that the announcers stressed was non-title. The Sinister Scot did his best to stay out of Show’s clutches and focused in on the champion’s legs, trying to chop the big man down to size. It was all futile, however, once the giant finally got ahold of his opponent. After punishing Drew with overhand chops in the corner, Show effortlessly tossed McIntyre from one corner to another with an Biel Toss. Show seemed to be having a ball as he played to the crowd and toyed with Drew for a bit more before putting the match to bed with a Knockout Punch. After the match, Show played to the crowd some more and raised his championship high as the announcers openly pondered if anybody could defeat the seemingly unstoppable Show for the title in the near future. [77%]
5. With the size advantage in his opponent’s favor, Randy Orton knew that he had to wrestle a smart match if he wanted to defeat the massive Mark Henry. Instead of rushing in and attacking Henry, Orton used a more defensive strategy, allowing Henry to come to him and picking his spots where he could. This strategy helped The Viper stay alive but it didn’t come without a few bumps and bruises from Henry’s ruthless onslaught. After allowing Henry to dictate the pace of the match for several minutes, Orton caught a huge break as the two were brawling on the outside. As Henry tried to launch the Viper into the steel ringpost, Orton slipped out the back and sent The World’s Strongest Man crashing face first into the post! Orton quickly pounced on the stunned Henry and took control of the match, giving as good as he got by drilling the former WHC with a Dropkick. When Orton tried to move in for the kill and stalked Henry for the RKO, the lights in the arena went off as a huge explosion of fire came up from the stage! The lights came on as quickly as they went off as a bemused Orton looked at the stage, searching for the source of the explosion. This proved to be The Apex Predator’s downfall as he turned around into a World’s Strongest Slam from Henry. The squashed Orton had no hope of kicking out before the ref’s count reached three and he named Henry the winner. After the match, the sinister laughter of Kane echoed throughout the arena as Orton kicked the ropes in frustration inside the ring and demanded that Kane come out and face him like a man! [76%]
- A short pre-taped promo from CM Punk aired next. In it, Punk said that despite the vicious attack by Chris Jericho on Monday, he would be in Washington DC, the site of next week’s Raw,. The WWE Champion said that he wasn’t coming to talk or to drop any pipebombs. He was coming to DC looking for a fight! The Voice of the Voiceless said that if Jericho was so ready to continue their rivalry, he was more than willing to prove once and for all that he was the “Best in the World” and make Jericho wish he had never come back. [86%]
6. In a Wrestlemania rematch also serving as the night’s main event, Sheamus defended his newly won World Heavyweight Championship against former champion Daniel Bryan. Wanting to redeem himself after his embarrassingly quick loss at the Showcase of the Immortals, Bryan wasted no time in using his technical wrestling expertise to tie the champion up in several painful submission holds, wearing the bigger man down. Sheamus rightfully has a reputation of being one of the toughest men in WWE and proved it by refusing to submit to Bryan’s holds and doing his best to fight out of them. Since he lacked the technical knowledge to escape the holds, the champ was forced to use his raw power as a means of freedom, powerbombing his way out of an attempted Triangle Choke. Knowing that he would never be able to match Bryan hold for hold, Sheamus turned the match into his favor by making it a brawling contest after screaming “18 seconds!” over and over again. Despite the advice of his girlfriend AJ Lee, who was at ringside for the contest, just a simple reminder of what happened at Mania sent Bryan into a blind rage, causing him to forget his previous strategy and rush at the champion with reckless abandon. The two men traded strikes with Sheamus getting the better of the exchange and forcing his challenger to get tied up in the ropes as he laid into with vicious blows to the chest. Bryan soon returned the favor as he turned the champ’s pale chest bright red with brutal kicks to the chest while screaming “YES” along with the crowd after every kick. The crowd was rocking as the match went into the finishing stretch and both men traded near-falls. Unfortunately for them, the match never had a proper conclusion as Alberto Del Rio hit the ring and began attacking both men! AJ shrieked in horror as both her boyfriend and Sheamus were laid out with kicks to the head from the Mexican Aristocrat. As both the crowd and the announcers condemned Del Rio for his actions, the former Royal Rumble winner yanked away the WHC from the attendant at ringside and retreated up the ramp with it, screaming that it was “his destiny” to hold it! The show ended with AJ tending to her hurt boyfriend as Sheamus regained consciousnesses and realized that his championship had been stolen. [86%]

Damn, it's good to be writing again. Anybody got a problem with the writing style so far? I'm trying to include enough details without having to write an entire book as that's what really tripped me up in past diaries. Also, WWE still has NXT in this game save but I'm not booking it. Just not worth it to write three shows at this point.

No issues so far. Good writing style, crisp, to the point, gets you invested in the story without extraneous details. I need to figure that out.

April 9th, 2012, Monday Night Raw [80%] LIVE from Washington, DC Announcers: Jerry Lawler & Michael Cole- As promised on Smackdown, this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw opened up with John Cena running down to the ring to address the shocking return of Brock Lesnar last week. Doing his best to ignore the mixed reaction that the DC crowd was giving him, Cena said that he, much like everyone else in the WWE Universe, was shocked by the return of Brock Lesnar. Even more than shocked, however, he was disgusted by the former WWE & UFC champion’s actions. Cena admitted that sour grapes over his loss to the Rock at Wrestlemania 28 had prevented him from coming out to accept the Rock’s handshake. He just couldn’t look Rock in the eye and shake his hand after telling the world that he HAD to win at Wrestlemania only to let all of his fans down when the lights were on bright. When Lesnar attacked Rocky last week, however, he came to his senses and knew that he had to try to help Rock. Not because he liked “Dwayne” but because it was the right thing to do. Even if he didn’t like Rocky, he damn sure respected him and the battle that he gave him at Wrestlemania 28. After wishing Rock a speedy recovery from his arm injury and teasing the possibility of a second encounter between the two megastars when he became healthy again (“Twice in a Lifetime”), he condemned Lesnar’s assault, calling it unprovoked and the actions of a bully that thinks he can just waltz back into WWE and make it his own playground. The Champ challenged Lesnar to a match at Extreme Rules, saying that if Lesnar “wants some so damn bad”, he can “come get some.” Concluding his promo, Cena admitted that he let a lot of people down at Wrestlemania 28. “I’m not gonna let them down again at Extreme Rules.” [100%]
1. With a future shot at the United States title on the line, Kofi Kingston, Sin Cara, The Miz, & Goldust clashed in a Fatal Four Way match. From the start, this was a chaotic mix of styles as Cara and Kingston continued their match from last week and immediately went after each other. As this was happening, The Miz hung out in the corner and waited for the high-flying fan favorites to wear one another out so he could come in and pick up the scraps. His plan was disrupted, however, by “The Bizarre One” Goldust who caught the former WWE champion off-guard with his unorthodox offense. During the course of the match, it seemed like every competitor came close to winning the match once before their pinfall attempt was broken up by one of the other competitors. After several minutes of action, the match came to an end when the Miz ducked under an attempted Crossbody by Kofi Kingston while Sin Cara and Goldust were brawling on the outside. Realized the golden opportunity in front of him, Miz quickly dragged Kingston up to his feet and planted him with the Skull Crushing Finale for the victory. After the match, Miz snatched the headset off of Michael Cole’s head and reminded everyone that he was “The Miz and I am a champion!” [81%]
- The show cut to the office of John Laurinaitis who was talking to the conniving vixen Eve Torres. The GM of Raw and Smackdown said that even though Torres wasn’t an official member of Team Johnny at WM 28, she was an integral part to his team’s success and as such, deserves a reward for her achievements. Acknowledging that he may have bitten off more than he can chew in trying to run both Raw and Smackdown by himself, Big Johnny said that with all the chaos happening on Raw due to the return of Brock Lesnar the red brand required most of his attention at the moment. Because of this, Laurinaitis was making Eve his official “Ace Ambassador” to Smackdown, leaving her in charge of all “executive decisions” relating to the blue brand and to ensure that the best interests of the Ace Administration were maintained. Eve was elated with this news and immediately began sucking up to her boss as the show cut from the office and went back to the ring. [73%]
2. Seeking revenge after Vickie Guerrero referred to his Funkadactyls as “hoochie mamas” last week, Brodus Clay took on Guerrero’s client Dolph Ziggler. At a serious size disadvantage, Ziggler played a game of cat-and-mouse with the Funkasaurus as he evaded his slower opponent’s strikes while getting in some licks of his own. The game soon came to an end however, when Ziggler became a bit overzealous with his offense and simply bounced off Clay on an attempted flying Clothesline. Vickie Guerrero could only screech her disapproval from ringside as the big man used his size to punish Ziggler, tossing the blond haired superstar all over the ring before capping off his onslaught with a brutal Release T-Bone Suplex that sent Ziggler sprawling outside of the ring in a desperate attempt to get a breather. Seeing that her client was on the backfoot, Guerrero decided that it was better to fight another day and called for her client to retreat up the ramp with her, simply abandoning the match and awarding Clay the count-out victory. Although he danced with Naomi and Cameron in a post-match celebration in the ring, the scowl on Clay’s face after Ziggler and Vickie retreated to the back implied that the Funkasaurus wasn’t completely satisfied with his indecisive victory. [77%]
3. In a very brief match, Sheamus defeated JTG without breaking much of a sweat in his first Raw match since winning the WHC at Mania. Since the title was stolen from him on Smackdown by Alberto Del Rio, the champion was forced to come to the ring without his title. Even though he didn’t have the physical belt, The Celtic Warrior reminded everyone why he is the champion by dominating the rarely seen JTG from start to finish, putting the match to bed with the Brouge Kick after running through most of his signature moves to the crowd’s delight. [75%]
- After the match, Sheamus was interviewed in the ring by Josh Matthews. After being questioned about what happened at the end of last week’s Smackdown, particularly Alberto Del Rio stealing his title, the world champion said that where he comes from, you don’t just steal another man’s property and expect to get away with it. But, because he was a nice guy, he was gonna let Del Rio off easy and simply ask him to return his title on Smackdown this Friday. If “Bertie” didn’t want to give it up? He was gonna kick that fella’s teeth down his throat and take his title back! [88%]
4. With Divas’s Champion Beth Phoenix watching on from the commentary booth, The British Bombshell Layla battled Aksana in another quick match. As Layla dominated Aksakna with an array of clotheslines and dropkicks, Phoenix dismissed the popular diva, referring to her as a “bimbo barbie doll.” Layla’s ears must have been ringing after the champion called her unworthy of a title shot on commentary as she brought an end to the match with an impressive Hurricarna shortly afterwards. Celebrating her victory by posing on the turnbuckle, Layla looked directly at the Glamazon and warned her that she was coming for the Divas title! [62%]
5. Jack Swagger looked to recapture the United States Championship as he cashed in his “Big Johnny Favor” to receive a US title match against champion Santino Marella. In addition to Vickie Guerrero, a somewhat tired looking Dolph Ziggler hung around ringside to give his partner some “support.” Unsurprisingly, that support came in form of various distractions that left Santino at the mercy o his challenger. “The Milan Miracle” struggled to gain string together any significant offense for most of the bout as he was constantly cut off by some underhanded tactic from Swagger’s associates at ringside. Much to the All-American American’s frustration, however, the champion somehow found a way to get his shoulder up on multiple pin attempts, keeping his cinderella story alive. Help for Santino soon arrived in an unlikely form as a pissed off Brodus Clay stomped his way down the ramp, making a beeline for Ziggler! Ziggler, seeing the angry giant heading his way, immediately began running around the ring in an attempt to avoid his rival with Clay giving chase as best he could. It’s amazing that Ziggler didn't leave a cloud of dust in his wake as he sprinted all the way to the back followed by the pursuing Clay and a distraught Vickie, yelling at the Funkasaurus to not touch a hair on her client’s head. All of this chaos caught the attention of Swagger, who could watch the entire situation unfold with a look of bemusement inside the ring. Unbeknownst to the former NCAA champion, Santino had used the break in the action to place a sock on his hand, readying his almighty Cobra! The Cobra struck as soon as Swager turned around, giving Santino the victory and keeping his cinderella story alive a little bit longer. [78%]
- The cameras went back to the office of John Laurinaitis who was talking to an unknown person on his cell phone. The GM quickly wrapped up his phone business when Mark Henry came into his office and demanded to talk to him. After pleasantries (well, about as pleasant as Henry can be) were exchanged, Henry informed the GM that he wanted to cash in his “Big Johnny Favor.” “Of course,” The GM said, “ a former World champion like yourself must have been inspired by the Miz chasing the WWE title last week and want a crack at the title yourself. I’ll inform CM Punk of his upcoming title defense tonight.” Henry, surprisingly, turned down the offer as well as a similar offer to face Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship. Johnny Ace assumed that if Henry wasn’t using his BJF for a title shot, he must have wanted to use it so he could have his own personal “Hall of Pain” tour bus! Once again, Henry declined the offer. After a few more incorrect guesses, Henry said that his favor was incredibly simple. All he wanted was some time off. When a shocked Laurinaitis asked why Henry wanted the time off, “The World’s Strongest Man” said that he was at a “crossroads in his career” and that he needed to do some serious reflection on his life. Nodding in understanding, Big Johnny shook Henry’s hand and informed him that he could take off as much time as he needed. [70%]
6. In the final match of the night, two different rivalries came together as Randy Orton teamed up with Intercontinental champion Big Show to take on Kane and Cody Rhodes. Throughout all of the action of this one, there was one overarching story. Randy Orton desperately wanted to get his hands on Kane while Kane did everything he could to avoid Orton so that he could continue his mind games. Everytime Orton was tagged into the match, Kane immediately tagged out and threw Cody into the Lion’s Den by letting him deal with Orton’s fury in addition to the massive size of the man who had taken his championship 8 days prior. Whenever Orton tagged out of the match, Kane force-tagged himself in and had no problems trading blows with Show. The Viper repeatedly challenged Kane to enter the ring and face him but every time, “The Devil’s Favorite Son” shook his head “no” before letting out a dark chuckle at Orton’s frustration building up inside of him. In fact, the only time Kane and Orton touched each other during this match was the finish. Unbeknownst to Orton, The Big Red Machine blind-tagged himself into the match as Cody was bouncing into the ropes and was made the legal man. Unaware of the change in legal men, Orton caught Rhodes with an RKO but was confused when the ref wouldn’t count his pin. He soon found out why as Kane quickly scooped him onto his shoulders and planted him with a Tombstone Piledriver for the victory. Kane’s laughter was heard loud and clear as he set off his ring pyro and headed to the back. He had gotten another one over on Orton. [85%]
- With only one segment left before tonight’s broadcast of Raw came to an end, WWE Champion CM Punk walked out to the ring with revenge on his mind. After pacing around the ring with a mic in hand in an attempt to let the cheers from the crowd die down a bit, Punk said that he didn’t come down here to lay down any “pipebombs.” He didn’t come down here to wrestle. He came down here to fight! “Chris Jericho, get your ass down!”, the champion yelled as the crowd roared their approval. Jericho did soon appear from the back but, dressed in an custom made suit, didn’t seem prepared to fight as he made sure to stay on the soundstage with a mic of his own. Referring to the champion as “Junior”, Jericho said that he was the best WRESTLER in the world. He wasn’t some “street-thug”, he only competed in sanctioned wrestling matches! Furthermore, Y2J stated that he would only accept another match with Punk if the WWE title was on. Badly wanting to get his hands on Jericho, the champion readily agreed to a title rematch but Jericho wasn’t done. He wanted the match to happen at Extreme Rules in Punk’s hometown of Chicago and for it to be a “Best Two out of Three Falls” match. Jericho said that he didn’t just want to take Punk’s title, he wanted to embarrass him by out-wrestling him in two straight falls in front of his own family and expose him as the fraud he really was. Again, Punk readily agreed to the match but requested a stipulation of his own; that the match be No-Disqualifications. “That way, not only do I get to prove once for all that I am the best wrestler in the world, I also get to kick your ass all over my hometown!” A simple “You got it!” was all that was needed from Jericho and the WWE title match at Extreme Rules was set. Raw went off the air with both men taunting each other off-mic and insisting that they would be victorious in Chicago on April 29th. [86%]

April 13th, 2012 Hampton, VA Friday Night Smackdown [76%] Announcers: Josh Matthews & Booker T
- “IT’S A SHAME THAT THEY LOST THEIR HEADS!” blared over the speakers as World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus made his way down to the ring to a big pop from the 8000+ fans in attendance. After a brief video recap of Del Rio stealing the physical belt during last week’s main event, Sheamus entered the ring and said that for the past seven days, he has had to go through the shame of being a champion without his championship. “Alberto, I’ve been awfully patient with you fella but the games are over. I’m getting my title back in one of two ways. Either you come down to this ring and hand it to me like a man or I go to the back, find you in whatever hole you’re hiding out in and TAKE my title back! You got 10 seconds to make your choice, fella.” Sheamus’ count didn’t even make it past four before a graphic popped up on the titantron saying “The following message was paid for by Alberto Del Rio” followed by a pre-taped video. In the video, Del Rio seemed to be relaxing on a beach somewhere as there were several beautiful exotic women surrounding him and pampering him. In between bites of grapes being feed to him, Del Rio said that ever since he first came to WWE, he has claimed that winning the World Heavyweight Championship was his destiny. After many failed attempts to capture the title, Del Rio finally decided to take destiny into his own hands by “confiscating” Sheamus’ World title. Calling the champion a “peasant” and a “perro”, the Mexican Aristocrat called the Celtic Warrior unfit to bear the title “champion” and said that the title deserves to be held by someone with class. Someone with nobility. “Someone like...Alberto Del Rio.” Del Rio informed the Ace Administration that he was essentially holding the title hostage and would not return the title until he was given the title shot that will allow him to fulfill his destiny. With a wink and a smarmy smirk from Del Rio, the video ended leaving a frustrated Sheamus in the ring. [92%]
- The show cut backstage to the office of the Smackdown Ace Ambassador Eve Torres. Torres was angrily muttering to herself at the headache that the world title situation was surely giving her. when Daniel Bryan, trailed by his embarrassed girlfriend AJ Lee, busted into her office. Before Eve could say a word to Bryan, the former WHC began yelling at the woman that she better not give ADR the next shot at Smackdown’s top title. In his mind, he was still owed a rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship due to Del Rio ruining his match last week, thus making the match null and void. “First, I get screwed out of my title at Wrestlemania. Now, I’m going to get leap-frogged for a world title shot by Alberto Del Rio!? No. No! NO!” Bryan continued to scream the two letter phrase over the sounds of his girlfriend trying to calm him down. Finally, Eve had enough of Bryan’s whining and informed him that she would make a decision regarding the WHC hostage situation next week. “In the meantime, I suggest that you head out to the ring right now because you have match coming up against R-Truth!” Again, Byan yelled “NO!” in protest but was quickly ordered to head out for his match and dragged out of Eve’s office by AJ. [70%]1. Looking for revenge after Daniel Bryan jumped him before their scheduled match on Raw, R-Truth took the fight to the former WHC as soon as the bell rung. Unprepared for this impromptu match, Bryan was caught off-guard by the conspiracy theorist's flurry of offense and was on the defensive for a good portion of this match. The Washington native proved his worth as a top competitor by weathering the offensive storm and allowing Truth to use up most of his energy in his rage-fueled state. An exhausted Truth was no match for the former world champion as Bryan picked Truth apart with surgically-precise kicks to Truth’s arms and chest. After stretching his opponent out for a bit, Bryan forced the rapper to submit to the Yes Lock. After the match, Bryan angrily responded “NO!” to the crowd’s enthusiastic chants of “YES!”, obviously still believing that the crowd was mocking him. [79%]- Being interviewed by Josh Matthews, Brodus Clay cut a short, basic promo saying that he wasn’t done with Vickie Guerrero and her “pretty boys.” The Funkasaurus hyped up a match against Jack Swagger scheduled for Raw next week, which is gonna be taking place at the O2 Arena in London, England. Clay said that he was gonna defeat Swagger and after that, he was gonna finish what he started with Dolph Ziggler! [64%]2. In a short match meant to showcase Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel’s chemistry as a team, International Airstrike defeated the odd-ball pairing of Heath Slater and JTG. Although individually talented wrestlers, Slater & JTG were no match for Kidd and Gabriel’s impressive teamwork and Slater soon found himself on the receiving end of a 450 Splash from Gabriel. [59%]- Eve Torres’ stress only increased as Randy Orton walked into her office and demanded a match against Kane at the upcoming Extreme Rules PPV. Citing the recent mind games that Kane had playing with him, Orton said that he needed to get his hands on Kane so that he can get that demon of out of his life. Seemingly overwhelmed by all that she had to deal with on her first night in charge, Torres quickly told Orton that she would talk to John Laurinaitis and make sure that the match was set for April 29th so that he would leave her office and give her a chance to think. [78%] 3. Coming off a big title defense on Raw, Santino Marella took on Drew McIntyre in a non-title match. After a stinging loss to the Big Show last week, McIntyre was clearly determined to be successful against WWE’s other midcard champion as he wrestled a slow, methodical pace, taking his time in dissecting the US champion. The crowd rallied behind the underdog champion as McIntyre used chinlocks to try and sap Marella of his strength. Santino soon fought his way to a vertical base and began mounting a comeback using his unusual style. After coming off the second rope with a Diving Headbutt, Santino placed a sock on his hand, signaling to the crowd that it was time for the Cobra~! During his pre-Cobra mannerism, however, The Milan Miracle was cut off by a knee to the gut by followed by a Running Big Boot from the Sinister Scot. Taking a moment to taunt the crowd, McIntyre dragged Santino to his feet and hooked his arms for the Future Shock DDT. Somehow, Santino countered the move by freeing one of his arms and cradling McIntyre with a Schoolboy Rollup. A surprised McIntyre kicked out at 3.1, giving the US champion his second win this week! [74%]- In a pre-taped promo, The Big Show hyped up a match against Cody Rhodes at Extreme Rules in a match that was announced on WWE.com. With the Intercontinental championship draped over his shoulder, Show basically said that he had knocked ou Rhodes once at Wrestlemania and that he was gonna do it again in Chicago, Illinois on April 29th. [88%]4. In a rematch from last week’s Raw, Sin Cara looked to avenge his loss to Kofi Kingston. Much like the match on Raw, this was a fast paced affair that was extremely competitive with neither man willing to let up a bit and give their opponent time to breath. It seemed as if both men had studied for this match as moves that connected in the previous match were countered or avoided this time around. Just when the match really started to go into second gear, it came to an abrupt end when Kofi badly tweaked his knee on a dive to the outside. Being the valiant babyface that he is, Kingston tried to continue the match but once it became clear that Kingston couldn’t put any weight on the bad leg, the ref threw up the dreaded “X” signal and ruled the match a no contest. With the match thrown out, Cara helped Kingston to his feet as the crowd applauded the impressive show of sportsmanship. The cheers quickly turned to boos when Cara kicked Kingston’s injured leg! As both Matthews & Booker protested the masked Luchadore’s actions, Cara put the boots to Kingston’s bum knee before being pulled away by security. Medical personnel attended to the Boom Squad General as the show cut to a commercial and the announcers speculated on what could have caused Sin Cara to snap. [73%]- Cody Rhodes was hanging out in his locker room when he was confronted by Goldust. The Bizarre One repeated last week’s offer to take Cody under his wing and help him prepare for his upcoming match against Big Show for the Intercontinental championship. Much like last week, Cody refused the offer and said that he could handle the Big Show on his own, citing his tag team victory over Show on Raw on Monday as proof. Rhodes was understandably embarrassed when Goldust reminded him that he didn’t pin Show in that match. He had to rely on his partner Kane to pick up the victory. “You thought you could beat Show on your own at Mania and what happened? BAM! One knockout punch and he snatched up your belt. Just trust me, Cody. I know how you can defeat the Big Show. Let me help you.” With much hesitation, Rhodes finally accepted his brother’s offer. Cody wanted to solidify the agreement with a handshake but was quickly pulled into a “manly brother hug” by his older brother. [83%]5. In a huge main event, Chris Jericho took on “The Viper” Randy Orton. Both men had huge matches scheduled for Extreme Rules and clearly looked to gain some momentum by winning this match as they traded holds. While both were world class competitors, only one of them had their full attention on the match. Several times during the match, Orton paused and took a quick scan around the arena, obviously anticipating Kane interfering in his match just as he had done last week. Orton was so focused on searching for one of his rivals that he remained one step behind the rival that he was actually facing. The Apex Predator put a good fight but most of his offense was awkward and unfocused, meaning that his signature spots didn’t carry as much power as they usually did. On the other hand, Jericho was on top of his game and had no problem taking advantage of Orton’s distracted state to finish him off with a Codebreaker. Smackdown closed with Jericho celebrating his victory as Orton pounded the mat in frustration. [81%]

April 16th, 2012Monday Night Raw [83%]London, EnglandAnnouncers: Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler - Airing from the O2 Arena in London, England, this edition of Monday Night Raw kicked off in a surprising manner as Paul Heyman sauntered out to the ring. Just in case anybody didn’t recognize him, The Mad Scientist informed everyone that “My name is Paul Heyman and I am here on behalf of my client, BROCK LESNAR!” Heyman said that he had made the trip across the pond to let it be known with millions watching that Lesnar was officially accepting John Cena’s challenge to a match at Extreme Rules in less than two weeks. In addition to that, Heyman had also organized a contract signing for the match to happen live on Raw next week. Heyman spent the rest of the duration of the segment hyping up Lensar, calling him “The Beast Incarnate” and the most impressive physical specimen in the history of the business. “Any man that says that God created all men to be equal has never met Brock Lesnar.” The former mastermind behind ECW ended the promo by comparing his loss to the Rock at WM 28 to his eventual (in Heyman’s eyes anyways) defeat to Lesnar in Chicago. “The Rock simply defeated John Cena. My client, BROCK LESNAR, is going to break John Cena.” [89%]1. Vickie Guerrero & Dolph Ziggler played cheerleader for Jack Swagger as he struggled to knock Brodus Clay off his feet in the night’s opening match. Although he had some difficulty in the early goings, he eventually forced the big man to the ground by utlizing the amatur wreslting skills that had lead him to two NCAA titles. As good as Swagger’s technique was, it just couldn’t deal with Clay’s raw power as he soon powered his way up to a standing base. Willed on by his own cheerleaders, Naomi and Cameron, The Funkasaurus rattled the former WHC with vicious headbutts and body blows before capping the match off with a Running Crossbody (which the announcers referred to as “What the Funk!?”) for the victory. Ziggler and Guerrero quickly peeled off their ally off the mat and retreated up the ramp as the Funkasaurus invited some kids to come into the ring and dance with him and his Funkadactalys. [75%] - In the backstage area, Layla bravely confronted the Divas champion, Beth Phoenix, and challenged her to put her title on the line at Extreme Rules. After mocking the British Bombshell and making sure that Layla knew what she was asking for, the champion accepted and promised that she would send a message to the rest of the locker room by destroying her at the Pay-Per-View! [75%]2. In a match stemming from Rosa Mendes saying that there was “no more competition in the tag team division” on Twitter last week, Primo & his cousin Epico put their Tag Team titles on the line against Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd, collectively known as International Airstrike. The London crowd was treated to a fast-paced battle as both teams traded the advantage and tried to gain a definitive edge over their opponents. That edge went to the challengers as a string of tandem moves from Kidd & Gabriel left the champions in a bad way and put them in serious danger of losing their gold. Just when it looked like Kidd had the titles won for his team when he locked Epico in the Sharpshooter, Rosa saved her men by smashing the Hart Dungeon graduate in the side of the head with one of the tag titles! The ref immediately called for the DQ, meaning that Primo & Epico had lost the match but still managed to retain their tag titles! Having just lost their shot at becoming tag champions, things went from bad to worse for International Airstrike as Primo & Epico attacked Gabriel after the match. With his partner still incapacitated from the title shot, Gabriel was overwhelmed by the champs and was left laying after Backstabbers from both men. [76%]- A quick video played recapping the WHC hostage situation on Smackdown. The video stated that the Ace Ambassador to Smackdown, Eve Torres, would make a decision regarding the title. [79%]3. In a true “David vs. Goliath” encounter, Kane faced US Champion Santino Marella in a non-title match. As the announcers hyped up Santino's ER opponent’s, The Miz, match against John Cena in the main event later on in the night, Kane seemingly toyed with the champion as Santino failed to string together any substantial offense against him. Every time it seemed like Kane had the match won, he would intentionally yank Santino’s shoulder off the mat before three so the match could continue. Kane’s refusal to let the match end came back to bite him as Santino finally managed to put together a brief comeback that stunned The Big Red Machine, culminating in Kane being knocked off his feet for the first time in the match by a Missle Dropkick. Unfortunately for the champion, he was unable to strike Kane with his COBRA~! due to The Devil’s Favorite Son cutting him off with a Big Boot to the face. Angered by Santino’s flurry of offense, Kane quickly peeled his opponent off the mat only to almost drive him back through it with a thunderous Chokeslam for the win. Before Kane could set off his usual post-match ring pyro, Randy Orton came sprinting down the ramp, clearly seeking revenge after weeks of mind games! Much to the Viper’s frustration, however, the mind games continued this week as the arena went dark as soon as Orton made it to the ring. When the lights came back on, Kane was nowhere to be seen, leaving Orton to pound on the mat and yell angry obscenities in the ring. [85%]- Heath Slater tried to do a “One Man Band” live performance for the London crowd but was interrupted in the middle of the first song by R-Truth who informed Slater that everyone in the O2 Arena thinks he sucks! Slater took offense to Truth’s comments, saying that his catalogue of songs were much better than the rapper’s one song. “Rap is crap!” according to Slater. This comment prompted Truth to attack Slater and send him packing from the ring. As Slater retreated up the ramp, Truth performed his signature “What’s up?” song to the delight of the crowd. [74%] 4. In what was a special attraction match for the London crowd, the rarely seen William Regal took on WWE Champion CM Punk in a non-title match. Playing the role of the hometown hero, Regal took full advantage of the huge opportunity given to him by taking the champion to his absolute limit, stretching Punk out with various holds mixed in with the occasional hair pull. The veteran also made sure to hold onto submissions until 4.9 any time Punk managed to claw his way to the ropes and to shove his elbow into the champ’s face on every pin attempt. Regal could only smirk and shrug his shoulders as the crowd actually cheered for these questionable tactics. While both competitors were talented ring generals, this match was decided by the fact that one man in the match was in the twilight of his career while the other one was at his peak. The crowd was a bit disappointed when Punk hit the GTS for the victory but made sure to give both men a standing ovation as they hugged after the match. [86%]- The show of respect between CM Punk and William Regal was cut short by a black and white propaganda video starting up on the titantron. The video called Punk a fraud, saying that despite claiming to be Straight-Edge, he came from a family of “addicts and delinquents.” According to the video, Punk’s father was a drunk, his sister was addicted to painkillers, and his own mother didn’t want him and kicked him out of the house while he was still a teen! The video ended after calling Punk a “false prophet” that had no business calling himself the “Best in the World” and would be exposed to the world on April 29th at Extreme Rules. Punk was clearly furious over the video’s claims and had to be calmed down by Regal as the announcers said that due to the subject matter, Chris Jericho must have been the one that created the video and got it to air on TV. [93%] - Before his main event match against John Cena, The Miz had a short interview with Josh Matthews where he said that unlike his opponent at Extreme Rules, Santino Marella, he was gonna win his match tonight and show the UK why he was THE Most Must-See Superstar in WWE today. Miz said that not only was he gonna defeat Cena tonight, just like he did at WM 27, he was also gonna win the US Championship in Chicago in less than two weeks. [88%]5. In an attempt to avenge his loss at WM 27, John Cena took on The Miz. Pretty basic story here as Cena ran wild on Miz in the early stages of the match before being cut off by a rake to the eye. As the crowd traded “Let’s Go Cena!” and “CENA SUCKS!” chants, Miz kept “The Champ” on the back-foot, having clearly done his homework before the match as he countered several of Cena’s signature moves. In classic Cena fashion, however, the Leader of the Cenation soon turned the tide of the match back in his favor as he managed to string together his usual comeback. Once he really got going, Cena was damn near unstoppable and overcame Miz’s dirty tactics to hit him with the Attitude Adjustment and force him to submit to the STF. The show ended with “The Champ” celebrating in the ring as the announcers hyped up what could possibly be the toughest match of his career against Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules. [90%]
