Email: 1) WWE got a 3.57 television rating for ECW on Sci-Fi. 2) Chuck Palumbo has agreed to an open contract with IWA-PR. 3) IWA-PR have signed Stevie Richards to a written contract.
Results for Throwdown, June 11, 2008:
“The road to Survival Of The Fittest on June 29th continues! Good evening everyone, welcome to Unleashed, live on Bravo. I’m Gary Michael Cappetta, alongside the legendary Terry Funk, and tonight, Terry, three big title matches! Another Survival Of The Fittest qualifier! And we’ll hear from Steve Corino and the ROH Commissioner Tammy Lynn Sytch!”
“Gary, tonight could change the face of ROH as we head to Survival Of The Fittest. It’s so jam-packed, I don’t know where to begin!”
“Well, I do, Terry; right in that ring, with our opening bout!”
1st segment—The Briscoes vs. Studio 54, no disqualifications: A rematch, stemming from Unleashed, the brothers Briscoe and Studio 54 meet again, with no rules to hold them back. Studio 54 puts up a hellacious fight, using the no-DQ stipulation to their advantage, but the no-rules atmosphere also hurts them. In the end, for once, Studio 54 finds themselves outnumbered, as The Burning River Brigade come out and nail a swank double DDT on Champagne. A Cut-Throat Suplex later, and Mark Briscoe gets the pin. But Jimmy Rave comes back in with chairs, hands one to Kory Chavis, and they proceed to blast the Briscoes. ***1/2 Segment rating: 71%
2nd segment—Commissioner Tammy Lynn Sytch enters the ring to the cheers of the crowd. “Tonight,” she begins, “I come before you to make an announcement. An announcement concerning—“
“Save it, Tammy,” says a voice from the back, the familiar voice of ROH’s World Champion. Chris Hero steps through the curtain to the boos of the audience. He climbs in the ring and starts pacing in front of the Commissioner. “You see, I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this, Tammy. I’ve been waiting for a chance to get something off my chest. Since you waddled your chubby ass into this company, you’ve done nothing but try to sabotage the career of Chris Hero. I was doing just fine until you showed up. You know what I have as souvenirs of your reign of terror?” Hero shows a six inch scar on his right arm. “That’s from the Hell In A Cell match with BJ Whitmer back in February. Nigel McGuinness knocked out a tooth. I pissed blood for a week after all those matches with Austin Aries and his damned kicks. I took enough Excedrin to single-handedly boost that company’s profits by 200% after my match with Masato Tanaka. You throw reckless, unworthy challengers after me, you book me in matches like WarGames which endanger my health and my livelihood, you try to drive rifts in between my friends and I … and now, you have me in a Last Man Standing match against BJ Whitmer in three weeks?” Hero shakes his head. “I can’t take it anymore. I can’t take your constant screwjobs, your conspiracies, your grudge. I can’t take it anymore. I’m done. I’ve had it.”
Sytch tries to maintain her poise, but the glee is obvious. “You … are you saying what I think you’re saying? Are you leaving Ring Of Honor?”
Hero sighs, puts a hand on her shoulder and looks Sytch right in the eye. “No, bitch, you are.”
Hero kicks her in the gut and hits her with the Hero’s Welcome. The crowd, aghast at first, starts throwing garbage at Hero. “Your dictatorship is over, you whore!” Hero slides out, grabs a chair, slides back in and drops it on the mat. Hero picks up her near-lifeless body, locks her head in the cravatte over the chair, yells “Say hello to Chris, Tammy!” and hits another Hero’s Welcome onto the chair. Officials and medics finally pour out of the back and swarm the ring; Hero backs off voluntarily and departs through the crowd as Sytch is carried away on a stretcher. Segment rating: 78% Note: Sytch gained overness.
3rd segment—Paul Burchill vs. Dan Maff: “Gary … I can’t believe what I just saw …” says Terry Funk as the wrestlers for the next match take to the ring. “Chris Hero has just …”
“Terry, we have to focus. Folks, we will have more information on the condition of Commissioner Sytch as it becomes available. Right now, she would want the show to continue, and it shall, with this match.”
Burchill picks up one of his most notable wins yet, thanks to the efforts of Eddie Kingston, who distracts Maff and drops him throat-first across the ropes. After Burchill leaves, Kingston pulls a bottle of bleach out from under the ring and, when Maff comes to, splashes it in Maff’s face. Authorities pull Kingston off Maff as Kingston goes after Maff with a pair of scissors; Maff is taken away, and Kingston is (reluctantly) left in the ring for his bout. **3/4 Segment rating: 64%
4th segment—Eddie Kingston vs. Brent Albright, Survival Of The Fittest qualifying match: Albright’s troubled ways continue against Kingston, who is too on-fire to miss. A mistimed charge into the corner by Albright ends up with a boot in his face; a Royal Flush follows, and Albright is pinned. After the match, Albright vents his frustration by tearing up the ringside area. **1/2 Segment rating: 62%
5th segment—Arik Cannon & Claudio Castagnoli vs. “Diamond” Joey Ryan & “Malibu” Tyler Black: Before Malibu and Diamond step into the ring, Joey Ryan gets on the mic. “Hey, Swiss Miss! Tonight is gonna be a preview of our semi-final match at the pay-per-view. You see, come Survival Of The Fittest, I plan on not just beating you, but humiliating you. I’ve studied your tapes, I’ve seen you in action, and I know your weakness now. At Survival Of The Fittest, I’m gonna beat you in less than five minutes … and I’m gonna prove to the world tonight that I can do that on demand, any night I want, by doing it tonight too!”
When the bell rings, Ryan and Claudio square off. Malibu gets the ref’s attention, which gives Ryan the chance to kick Claudio in the balls, pull a pair of brass knuckles out of his tights, clock Claudio in the eyes and cover him. Larry Sweeney grabs Arik Cannon’s leg, and the clueless ref makes the count, giving Ryan a pinfall victory in under a minute. But Cannon manages to break free of Sweeney and charges Ryan and Black; Claudio comes to and, though groggy, brawls alongside his partner until they vanish behind the curtain. **1/4 Segment rating: 62%
6th segment—On the JumboTron, a video plays. Steve Corino is in his house, sitting on his couch. “Good evening. I asked for this time tonight so I may reassure everyone in Ring Of Honor—from the fans to the wrestlers, to the executives and the Commissioner—that Steve Corino has not, contrary to popular belief, walked out on ROH. The fact of the matter is I no longer see the need to spin my wheels in pointless arguments and brouhahas when my destiny is already assured: my ROH World Title shot at Respect Is Earned. I am spending every waking day, every waking hour training for this opportunity. I don’t particularly care who is champion by the time Respect Is Earned comes around because, for me, it isn’t about beating a person … it’s about beating the champ. If it’s Chris Hero, or BJ Whitmer, or Hulk friggin’ Hogan, I don’t care. My destiny is carved in stone. I must be focused on that and only that. I do apologize to any fans I have that I won’t be there for the immediate future. Know, though, that when I return, I will be at the peak of my conditioning, and ready to not only defeat whomever may be champion, but to lead this company to new frontiers. Mark your calendars, ladies and gentlemen: Respect Is Earned 2008 will be a new day for Ring Of Honor.” Segment rating: 78%
7th segment—Murderdeathkill (c) vs. Matt Sydal & Jack Evans, ROH World Tag Title match: “Ladies and gentlemen,” says Cappetta, “I’ve just received word that Commissioner Sytch is being taken to the hospital as we speak. Preliminary exams seem to indicate a concussion, although we don’t know how severe, and there could be neck trauma. We will keep you updated as we hear more.”
Murderdeathkill’s first defense, against the team responsible for ending two of their title reigns, goes off the rails, as the threat of losing their titles to Evans & Sydal a third time becomes evident and they resort to weapons. Justice Pain gets into an argument with the ref over having a chair, and Pain ends the argument by picking up the ref and powerbombing him. A second ref disqualifies the champs, but that doesn’t stop MDK from grabbing anything not nailed down in an effort to annihilate their most hated rivals. When Pain and Messiah walk away, Sydal and Evans are sprawled out, with broken tables and broken chairs all around. ****1/2 Segment rating: 81%
8th segment—Nigel McGuinness vs. Adam Pearce: McGuinness, defending his countryman Paul Burchill, squares off against Adam Pearce, punishing the bully for his campaign against Burchill for being new to the company. But Nigel’s flurry of offense comes to a crashing halt when Pearce goes low on Nigel, then goes low again as Nigel is writhing on the ground in pain; the ref signals for the DQ against Pearce. As Pearce argues the decision, Burchill comes out and plants Pearce with the C4. *** Segment rating: 72%
9th segment—Jimmy Jacobs (c) w/Lisa Marie Jacobs vs. Ruckus, ROH Ultraviolent Title match: The blood flows in Jimmy’s Ultraviolent Title defense against Ruckus, no stranger to violence courtesy of CZW. But Ruckus is no match for superior numbers, and Kaos becomes the difference-maker, breaking a fluorescent tube over Ruckus’s head, allowing Jacobs to get a knockout win with The End Time. Kaos digs the glass into Ruckus’ wounds a little more after the bell. ***3/4 Segment rating: 72%
10th segment—BJ Whitmer vs. Bryan Danielson: “I don’t know if BJ Whitmer can be stopped, Terry Funk,” says Cappetta as he approaches the ring. “He is on a mission, and I don’t know if anyone or anything can survive it if it gets in his way.”
Though they stick to the rules, for 20+ minutes, Whitmer and Danielson unload every trick in their arsenal and make it look like a blood feud. In the end, Whitmer is too much for Danielson, who finally puts away the Dragon with an Exploder into the turnbuckles. As Whitmer walks away, Austin Aries rushes down the aisle and tries to take advantage of his downed nemesis; Danielson manages to catch Aries coming off the top turnbuckle and lays in the MMA elbows until Aries is unconscious. ***1/4 Segment rating: 74%
11th segment—Chris Hero vs. Sonny Siaki, ROH World Title match: Before Sonny Siaki can get in the ring, Hero grabs a microphone. “It seems … and ya know, I don’t know how this happened, but she really should be more careful … it seems that our beloved Commissioner was befallen of an accident of sorts. She won’t be joining us for, oh, I don’t know, how long is forever? Anyway, since she isn’t here, and I’m the champ … I guess it sorta falls on me, all this business about championship matches and such, doesn’t it? I can’t change Survival Of The Fittest, but one thing I can change is tonight, because there’s no goddamn way Sonny Siaki deserves a title shot for being inept and getting fired. So, Sonny, you can either skip the match tonight, since it’d be non-title, or you can come out, fight for nothing, and get your ass kicked. Your call.”
Despite the change in plans, Siaki comes out and takes it to the champ, pulling out all the stops to stick it to his former leader. But Hero’s willingness to bend the rules gives him the edge, and Hero sticks Siaki with a Hero’s Welcome after ramming him into an exposed turnbuckle. As Hero celebrates, BJ Whitmer runs down and uses a steel chair to tee off on Hero’s head. Whitmer blasts Hero’s body over and over with chairshots until sweat is pouring off his head. Siaki stands up and Whitmer hands him the chair. Siaki gets in a few licks and the two stand tall to end the show. **3/4 Segment rating: 71%
Overall rating: 71%

Preview for Throwdown, June 14, 2008: - Another participant is locked in for Survival Of The Fittest, as Eddie Kingston punched his ticket on Unleashed. We'll find out who he'll be facing at the pay-per-view, as "Malibu" Tyler Black will face off against Adam Pearce in qualifying action! - "Diamond" Joey Ryan screwed Claudio Castagnoli with his "five-minute guarantee". He wants to do it again, and he's put out a challenge to an old foe: Mike Quackenbush. Quack has accepted, but will the Diamond Of The Dance Floor find himself a victim to Quackenbush like he did before? - Dan Maff & Kaos have caused a lot of havoc with their foes, Eddie Kingston & Ruckus. Tonight, they'll be facing The Burning River Brigade. All four of these men have enemies -- will we see them stick their nose into this affair? - Adam Pearce not only hates Paul Burchill for "tainting" Ring Of Honor, but hates that Burchill has enlisted his countrymate Nigel McGuinness as an ally. Pearce has purchased the services of Brent Albright to take out McGuinness ... but considering Albright's losing streak, will this prove a wasted investment? - Throwdown will have an exciting double main event: two exciting, never-before-seen tag matches. In the first, Generation Next's two most prominent members, Austin Aries and Roderick Strong, will reunite to take on The Motor City Machine Guns! The MCMG's are looking to get back in that title hunt. A victory over such notable wrestlers as Strong and Aries could be the catapult they need ... and with Aries and Strong both having dangerous men hunting them in Bryan Danielson and Jimmy Jacobs, this could be the MCMG's night to shine. - Our second half of the main event will see ROH World Champion Chris Hero partnering up with ROH Ultraviolent Champion Jimmy Jacobs against Sonny Siaki and BJ Whitmer. With BJ Whitmer's blood crusade to end Chris Hero's career, Siaki's newfound hatred for his former boss, and Jimmy Jacob's being a psychopath, this has got bloodbath written all over it! - We hope to have word about the condition of ROH Commissioner Tammy Lynn Sytch following the heinous attack perpetrated by Chris Hero. Updates could come at any time, so don't forget to check rohwrestling.com for breaking news on this horrible situation! Breaking news from the Ring Of Honor newswire!!!
ROH upper management has been updated regarding the condition of ROH Commissioner Tammy Lynn Sytch, and the news is not good. She suffered a Grade II concussion from the impact of her head hitting the steel chair. Furthermore, the twisting of the neck involved in Chris Hero's Hero's Welcome finisher caused a severe neck sprain. Doctors have advised Tammy a long period of convalesence, and have forbid her from setting foot in an ROH ring.
Tammy, ever the proud performer, issued the following statement:
"Chris Hero has robbed me of my dignity, my self-worth ... and now my job. If I cannot give you, the Ring Of Honor fans, 100% of myself and be there for the events like a good Commissioner should be, I can't allow myself to continue on as your Commissioner. Therefore, I have to, effective immediately, step down from my position."
The loss of Sytch is a serious blow for the ROH managment, as there are numerous problems and flashpoints in ROH that need the immediate attention only a Commissioner can provide. ROH upper management will now have to contend with both addressing the event-to-event concerns and the daily running of the business, as well as search for an interim Commissioner.
Unfortunately, the perpetrator of this heinous attack, Chris Hero, is protected; standard legal waivers prevent any criminal or civil charges from being filed against him. And as upper management does not want to create a break in the continuty of the World Title, nor have a period of time without the champion appearing in ROH, he can neither be suspended nor stripped.
ROH officials will be compiling a list of potential candidates for the interim Commissioner's position, and hope to be able to release it, along with beginning interviews, in the very near future.
Jed Shaffer ~If only this could be in the game itself. Imagine the heat someone would get over being this untouchable as a heel.

Just so you know, catching up on your shows just now has motivated me to do mine again! I marked for the Hero killing Sytch segment, at least, as close to marking as you can be reading made up results. I love Hero.

Glad I provide the inspiration. I rather enjoy your diary, so it'll be good to see it pick back up.
Despite the fact that he's an overbearing heel who just attacked a woman--and took a sort-of shot at her dead boyfriend--yeah, I kinda marked doing that segment myself. I've been waiting to pull that trigger for some time.
Jed Shaffer ~It's gonna be a shame to have to take the belt off Hero eventually. The past few months, he's really become a brilliant heel.

I missed the shot at Candido, with the attacker being named Chris as well.
But yea, that makes it all the better. What a dick Hero is.

Saturday, June 14, 2008:Email:1) WWE got a 3.59 television rating for Smackdown. 2) TNA got a 0.88 television rating for TNA Friday. 3) CMLL got a 0.94 television rating for CMLL Friday. 4) IWA-PR got a 1.15 television rating for High Impact. Results for Throwdown, June 14, 2008: “Ring Of Honor is live, and is ready to Throwdown! Good evening, everyone, I’m Jimmy Bauer, alongside my broadcast partner, Mike Johnson. We have an explosive show, including another qualifying match for Survival Of The Fittest, live on pay-per-view, with a World Title shot on the line for the winner … but Mike … after the events of this week, I gotta be honest, Mike, I don’t expect Chris Hero to survive much farther then the 29th of June.” “Jimmy, Chris Hero’s attack on former ROH Commissioner Tammy Lynn Sytch was reprehensible. She has been forced to resign, she had to hear Hero make a mockery out of the whole situation by mentioning the late Chris Candido … and as if it couldn’t get any worse, Chris Hero won’t be punished!” “And—wait, I’m understanding—yes, Rebecca Bayless is in the ring right now. Chris Hero has demanded time to speak. Rebecca, take it away.” 1st segment— “Thank, Mike and Jimmy. Ladies and gentlemen, the Ring Of Honor World Champion … Chris Hero!” Hero saunters to the ring looking very proud of himself. He takes the microphone from Rebecca, but as she turns to leave, he says; “Rebecca, I’d like you to stay. Please.” Rebecca looks nervous; Hero approaches her, putting a hand on her shoulder. “Rebecca … I need you here. It’s important. You see, Rebecca, as ROH World Champion, I’m privy to a lot of things about the inner workings of Ring Of Honor’s front office. And one of the things I’m privy to is that the company is in need of a new Commissioner, since the old one was met with a sudden need for retirement.” Hero grins, which makes Rebecca back up a step. “I’ve heard the rumors … Percy Pringle … Bobby Heenan … Eric Bischoff … Roddy Piper … Jim Cornette … Trish Stratus … I know that the ROH upper management has looked at all of these people, and I also know that not a single one of them want the position. So ROH is scrambling to find a new Commissioner, and … well, they need someone to do the paper-pushing until they find their person … and I know that the paper-pusher is you.” The crowd gasps in unison; it seems like the temperature in the building drops by thirty degrees. “Oh, God, no,” says Jimmy Bauer. “I know you’re front office, Becky. I know you were Tammy’s step-and-fetch-it girl. I know the front office is having you do some of Tammy’s day to day duties … and I know that they told you to consider it an on-the-job tryout for her position.” Suddenly, Hero pushes her into the corner and leans in. “And you need to know that it would be in the best interest of your health and well-being if you made sure the only job you perform are blowjobs, just like you’ve always done. Otherwise—” A man in a hoody and jeans runs climbs the barricade, runs into the ring and taps Hero on the shoulder. When Hero turns around, he’s blasted with pepper spray. The mystery attacker whips Hero into the ropes and greets him on his return with a superkick right in the jaw. Hero drops to the mat, completely unconscious; the stranger stands above him, looking down at Hero … then looks up and tosses back the hood to reveal himself: Steve Corino. Corino bends down, grabs the microphone and, right in Hero’s unconscious face, says; “You can consider this my resignation from the Exception To The Rule, Chris … and my guarantee that if you make it to Death Before Dishonor on July 27th, I will kick your teeth down your fucking throat and you out the fucking door!” Corino helps Rebecca to her feet and walks her out of the arena. Segment rating: 75% Notes: Hero lost overness. Corino turned face, and gained overness from turning. 2nd segment—Hallowicked vs. Paul Burchill vs. Jigsaw vs. El Generico, four-corner survival match: Burchill picks up a strong win against three of ROH’s better high-fliers when he hits Hallowicked with the C4. **1/4 Segment rating: 68% 3rd segment—The Burning River Brigade vs. Dan Maff & Kaos: “I’m getting word, Mike, that Steve Corino and Rebecca Bayless have left the arena … he’s taking her to the airport. I can’t blame her for wanting to leave town. I never thought I’d see the day where Steve Corino would be … yeah, I just never thought I’d see the day.” A back and forth match from the opening bell, pitting the brutal brawling of the Exception tandem against the high-flying of the BRB. But the difference maker is Studio 54, who provide a crucial distraction and allow Kaos to hit the Kaostrify on Matt Cross for the three-count. Kaos and Maff step aside to let Studio 54 put the boots to their rivals a little more. ***1/2 Segment rating: 80% 4th segment— After the ring is cleared, Kaos returns to the ring. “What you just saw, ladies and gentlemen, is how Kaos gets things done in Ring Of Honor,” says the self-proclaimed “rock and roll star of Ring Of Honor”. “What you just saw was how Kaos makes a statement and moves up the ladder. And what you just saw is a preview of what’s in store for Ruckus in the very near future. Ruckus is garbage, and I intend to take out the tr—” His sentence dies in mid-word, as Ruckus appears from the locker room and lays into Kaos. He beats him all around the ring and tosses him outside, where he sets up Kaos in the corner of the guard rails. With Kaos prone, Ruckus charges and puts his foot in Kaos’ face, crushing it between his boot and the steel. Ruckus leaves Kaos bleeding on the arena floor, stopping to grab the microphone on the way out to say; “Will someone come and take out the trash please?” Segment rating: 74% 5th segment—Mike Quackenbush vs. “Diamond” Joey Ryan: The two old rivals pick up where they left off, only now with even more behind it: for Ryan, he is looking to back up his claims of being the “Five Minute Man”, while Quack is looking for momentum leading up to his qualifying match in a week. Larry Sweeney ends up being the deciding factor, but unintentionally in favor of Quackenbush, when his attempt to slide a chair to Ryan is intercepted by the ref, and Quack catches Ryan off guard with the Quackendriver. *** Segment rating: 73% Notes: Quack gained overness. 6th segment— Bryan Danielson is in one of the back hallways of the arena, alone with a camera. “Austin Aries … Survival Of The Fittest is fifteen days away. Fifteen days to consider how your career will come to an end. Fifteen days to think about how many different ways I am capable of beating you, at any time, in any way, at my leisure. The powers that be want to put a stipulation on our match. I don’t care myself. Pick the poison, Austin; submission, I Quit, steel cage, whatever. It doesn’t matter to me, Austin, because the end result is the same: me, having beaten you thoroughly and convincingly, while you contemplate whether you have any reason left to stay in Ring Of Honor.” Segment rating: 74% 7th segment—“Malibu” Tyler Black vs. Adam Pearce, Survival Of The Fittest qualifying match: The fourth qualifying match pits two men hated by the ROH fanbase. The appearance of Arik Cannon is the only positive for the audience, as he distracts Black long enough for Pearce to get a roll-up and the victory. But on the way out, Pearce decks Cannon and tells him to stay out of his business. ** Segment rating: 63% 8th segment—Nigel McGuinness vs. Brent Albright: “Adam Pearce didn’t like Nigel McGuinness sticking up for Paul Burchill, Mike,” says Bauer. “That’s why we have this match: Pearce has purchased the services of Brent Albright to injure Nigel McGuinness.” But the plan backfires, as Nigel withstands all Albright has to offer, and puts away the hired gun with the Tower Of London. Afterwards, Nigel offers a hand to Albright anyway, and much to his surprise, Albright shakes it. **1/2 Segment rating: 73% Notes: Albright lost overness. 9th segment— Eddie Kingston approaches the backstage interview position, but before Gary Michael Cappetta can do the honors, Kingston is bum-rushed by Dan Maff. Maff shatters a beer bottle over Kingston’s head, and when Kingston is down on the floor, Maff produces a staple gun. He manages to sink two staples into Kingston’s face before authorities haul Maff away. Segment rating: 75% Notes: Maff gained overness. 10th segment—Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. The Motor City Machine Guns: “Generation Next is back for one night!” exclaims Mike Johnson. “Tonight, we see what the MCMG’s are capable of!” The match is an instant classic, with tight technical action and outstanding aerial maneuvers galore. But the answer to the question of who is a better team remains a mystery, as the interference of Jimmy Jacobs costs Strong a pinfall loss to Alex Shelley. Together, the threesome put the boots to Aries and Strong after the bell. **** Segment rating: 88% 11th segment—BJ Whitmer & Sonny Siaki vs. Chris Hero & Jimmy Jacobs w/Lisa Marie Jacobs: The ref has to throw the rulebook out the window with Whitmer and Hero in the ring, as they do everything in their power to inflict as much pain as possible without committing a felony. Hero gets no mercy from Siaki, and Jacobs gets to work out some bloodlust as well. The end comes as Hero, having hit an implant DDT on Whitmer, signals for the Hero’s Welcome, only for Steve Corino to return and kick Hero’s head almost off his shoulders. Whitmer shakes out the cobwebs, hits the Exploder and pins Hero … but when he sees Corino, he leaves the ring and gets in Cornio’s face. The two literally butt heads and trade harsh words as Throwdown fades to black. *** Segment rating: 80% Overall rating: 75% Sunday, June 15, 2008:Email:1) Messiah - I'd like to request a match or two with Steve Corino. Preview for Unleashed, June 18, 2008: - The Survival Of The Fittest qualifying matches continue, pitting Ruckus against the Ring Of Honor Ultraviolent Champion, Jimmy Jacobs! The title will not be on the line, but a spot in the tournament is. Will we see Roderick Strong or Kaos get involved? - Speaking of Roderick Strong, he's issued a challenge; he didn't like dropping a match to the Motor City Machine Guns, so he wants a piece of them. Alex Shelley has accepted the invite, and the two will tangle on Unleashed! And on top of that, Strong has asked for time to speak ... who knows what Strong has in store. - Since The Briscoes lost the ROH World Tag Titles three months ago, they have been adrift as short-term teams have leapfrogged over them to obtain title reigns. Tonight, The Briscoes look to reverse their fortunes, and they'll face another team looking to regain traction, Matt Sydal & Jack Evans. This is sure to be a match of the year candidate, and should have a big impact on the ROH Tag Title scene in the near future. - Adam Pearce is furious at Paul Burchill for even being in ROH, and Nigel McGuinness for coming to Burchills aid. His purchase of Brent Albright didn't go so well on Throwdown, but Pearce is undaunted, and has retained Albright's services again. It'll be tag team action, with Pearce and Albright against McGuinness and Burchill! - Two of ROH's hottest feuds will collide, as Bryan Danielson will team up with Dan Maff against Austin Aries and his partner, Eddie Kingston. The hatred between these men is off the charts ... this could turn into a bloodbath! - The ROH World Title picture is in total chaos now. Steve Corino made his unexpected return on Throwdown, and superkicked his way out of the Exception To The Rule to save Rebecca Bayless, and then cost Chris Hero a pinfall loss against BJ Whitmer later on. Corino may have shown a new side to him, but Whitmer did not appreciate Corino's interference. Whitmer will be taking on The Messiah on Unleashed, while Corino is taking on Justice Pain. Will the ROH World Champ stick his nose in either of these matches? Will Whitmer and Corino cross paths? Did Corino sign his own death warrant by turning on Hero? Plus: "Diamond" Joey Ryan, "Hot Tub" Jimmy Rave, Sonny Siaki, Matt Cross, and more! ____________________________________________________ Your card for:

Looking forward to the Grudge match, and the International Showcase. Haven't really thought of doing such a thing, but might have to improvise come PPV time. I do about 10+ shows per big events though, so I've gotta lot time to think it over.

Wednesday, June 18, 2008:Email:1) WWE got a 2.97 television rating for ECW on Sci-Fi. Results for Unleashed, June 18, 2008:“Survival Of The Fittest is a week and a half away, but there’s plenty of action here tonight! Good evening, everyone, I’m Gary Michael Cappetta, alongside Terry Funk, welcoming you to another action-packed episode of Unleashed! Terry, tonight, we have another qualifying match for Survival Of The Fittest … but the big story has to be Steve Corino leaving the Exception To The Rule and returning to Ring Of Honor unexpectedly last week.” “Gary, Steve Corino finally did what I knew he had in him all along. He finally woke up and saw Chris Hero for what he is. Now the problem for Steve Corino is Survival Of The Fittest; he’s on the outside, looking in. BJ Whitmer is as focused as a man can be, and if Whitmer can beat Hero, Corino’s not had the best of luck against Whitmer. Bottom line, Corino may have made things harder for himself by kicking Chris Hero in the head.” “Time will tell … right now, though, we have our opening bout ready to go! Let’s send it to the ring!” 1st segment—Paul Burchill & Nigel McGuinness vs. Adam Pearce & Brent Albright: Adam Pearce’s investment in Brent Albright as a hired gun backfires again, as Albright accidentally clocks Pearce with a clothesline, leading to Burchill getting a submission victory over Pearce with the Royal Mutilation. Pearce pushes Albright, blaming him for Pearce tapping out; Albright shoves back; Pearce loudly demands his money back, and instead gets taken down and put in the Fujiwara armbar. Pearce taps and taps and taps as the crowd cheers on Albright to “break his arm, Albright, break his arm”. Albright leaves Pearce writhing in pain to the cheers of the crowd. **3/4 Segment rating: 78% Notes: Albright turned face and gained overness. 2nd segment—“Diamond” Joey Ryan vs. Sonny Siaki: Once again, Ryan proclaims he’ll polish off his opponent in less than five minutes. The five minute mark cruises by, and Ryan finds himself in deep trouble with Siaki. Sweeney distracts the ref long enough for Ryan to kick one between Siaki’s uprights, and gets the pin off that and a handful of tights. As Ryan sets up Siaki for a Mustache Ride, Claudio Castagnoli comes out, but Ryan catches Double C on the way in and hits the Mustache Ride on his rival. ***1/4 Segment rating: 77% 3rd segment—Ruckus vs. Jimmy Jacobs w/Lisa Marie Jacobs, Survival Of The Fittest qualifying match (non-title): Ruckus and Jacobs throw caution—and the rulebook—out the window in their bids to grab the next SOTF slot. But their pushing of the rulebook becomes outright breaking when they bring in weaponry. The ref tries to stop them, but both Ruckus and Jacobs shove the ref out of the way, and he throws out the match. ***3/4 Segment rating: 83% 4th segment— “What the hell does this mean?” asks Funk. “Nobody won!” “I think it means whoever wins next week’s match—if someone wins next week’s match—gets a bye to the finals!” replies Cappetta. “And here comes Kaos!” Kaos slides into the ring as Jacobs finally decides to walk away. Still armed with a chair, Ruckus somehow senses the ambush coming, turns and splits Kaos’ wig. Kaos tries to get back to his feet, but Ruckus makes like Tiger Woods and blasts Kaos in the face again, tearing open a gash on Kaos’ forehead. Ruckus almost leaves, thinks again, comes back, puts a chair under Kaos’ face, and curb-stomps him into it. Ruckus leaves as medics rush up to peel Kaos off the mat and wipe up the pool of blood. Segment rating: 79% 5th segment—“Hot Tub” Jimmy Rave vs. Matt Cross: An intense one-on-one meeting between members of two rival teams that sees Rave get eke out a victory thanks to a pair of brass knuckles that the ref doesn’t see. Rave makes sure to toss the knucks and makes tracks to the back before Cross can come to or the ref can see what really happened. *** Segment rating: 74% Notes: Rave gained overness. 6th segment—The Briscoes vs. Matt Sydal & Jack Evans: “It’s been a long month or two in the tag ranks,” says Cappetta. “Both these teams want back in the title hunt … they may be friends outside the ring, but tonight, you’re damned sure ain’t gonna see buddies.” Cappetta proves right, as they put on a back-and-forth, balls to the wall MOTYC. Everyone hits a finisher, and both teams hit stereo finishers, and nobody will take the fall. The 15-minutes lapses, leaving the match a no contest. Sydal and Jay Briscoe approach the ref with the same idea: five more minutes. Before the ref can say yea or nay, Murderdeathkill hit the ring and lay waste to everyone, up to and including the zebra. ****3/4 Segment rating: 90% 7th segment— Roderick Strong enters the ring for his match, but takes the microphone from the ring announcer. “I wanted a little time in front of you to conduct some business,” says Strong. “My career’s going places, but I want to make sure I have the inside edge. I want more shots at the Ring Of Honor World Championship. I want main events. My buddy, Austin Aries, has managed that with the help of his manager, Lacey … so I think it’s high time I get myself representation, too.” Strong looks to the entryway as his new manager steps through the curtain … LACEY. Strong holds the ropes open for her and gives her the microphone to say a few words. “I am nothing if not a smart businesswoman,” she says, “and I know a sound business investment when I see it. I already manage Austin Aries, and when I heard that Roderick Strong, Austin’s old friend from Generation Next, was looking for managerial services … I’d be a fool not to reunite these two athletes under the umbrella of my services. Ladies and gentlemen, in this ring, you are looking at the man who will win Survival Of The Fittest, and one half of the most dominant force in Ring Of Honor, Roderick Strong!” Segment rating: 68% 8th segment—Roderick Strong vs. Alex Shelley: Unfortunately, Strong’s new partnership doesn’t pay immediate dividends, as he drops a match to Alex Shelley thanks to the machinations of his hated rival, Jimmy Jacobs, who jabs Strong in the leg with the spike as he comes off the ropes. Shelley is able to use the injury to hit the Shellshock for the pin. Jacobs climbs in the ring afterwards and is about to stab him with the spike, but instead grabs Strong’s legs and holds him in the Stronghold until refs and authorities pry him off. **** Segment rating: 86% 9th segment—BJ Whitmer vs. The Messiah: Whitmer continues his tear through Ring Of Honor as he looks to fulfill his quest of revenge on Chris Hero, putting away The Messiah despite interference from Hero. When Hero tries to get himself a piece of Whitmer after the bell, he ends up getting an Exploder instead. **** Segment rating: 88% 10th segment—Steve Corino vs. Justice Pain: “Gary, I know Steve Corino, I’ve wrestled Steve Corino, and lemme tell ya,” says Funk; “if Corino’s pissed, he’s the wrong guy to have on your ass.” “And that’s why Chris Hero is sending the Exception To The Rule after Steve Corino,” says Cappetta. But Justice Pain isn’t enough to stop Corino, as he fights a hellacious, but successful battle against one half of the ROH Tag Champs. Frustrated with the loss, Pain grabs the ref and hits him with the Pain Thriller. **3/4 Segment rating: 81% 11th segment—Austin Aries & Eddie Kingston vs. Bryan Danielson & Dan Maff: As Aries and Danielson try to out-wrestle one another, Kingston and Maff try to maim and injure one another. The end comes when Maff ducks a clothesline by Kingston and it hits Danielson; Maff goes to check on his partner, and Kingston locks on a rear naked choke. Maff passes out and the match is awarded to Kingston and Aries. After Aries and Kingston leave, Danielson, disgusted with his partner, puts him in the Cattle Mutilation. ***3/4 Segment rating: 79% Overall rating: 80% Thursday, June 19, 2008:Email:1) Road agents - Ruckus and Jimmy Jacobs work pretty well together due to their similar styles. 2) Road agents - Jimmy Rave and Matt Cross work pretty well together due to their similar styles. 3) Whitmer - The Messiah was working too stiffly, i could have been badly hurt. 4) Kingston - I think I should be higher up the card. (Promoted to upper midcard) 5) We got a 2.80 rating for Unleashed, drawing 2508 people for $75240. 6) IWA-PR got a 2.70 television rating for IWA-PR Wednesday. 7) IWC got a 1.32 television rating for IWC Wednesday. 2% of PI was gained (total: 78%). Friday, June 20, 2008:Email:1) TNA got a 6.02 television rating for TNA iMPACT. Jed Shaffer ~WWE lost another 2 PI points. Their descent will probably slow down since they're no longer at war with me.

Preview for Throwdown, June 21, 2008: - Due to the double-disqualification between Ruckus and Jimmy Jacobs on Unleashed, tonight's match between Kaos and Mike Quackenbush now has double the importance for the Survival Of The Fittest tournament; the winner will go right to the final four-way elimination match! This is a HUGE advantage for the winner of tonight's match! - Sonny Siaki didn't like being embarrassed by "Diamond" Joey Ryan, and neither did Claudio Castagnoli. They'll team up tonight against Ryan and his partner, "Hot Tub" Jimmy Rave! - The rest of Studio 54 will also be in action, as "Champagne" Kory Chavis looks to get a pinfall against the Burning River Brigade like his partner did, only over Josh Prohibition. Also, "Malibu" Tyler Black and Arik Cannon will go one on one! - Adam Pearce is livid at Brent Albright for not only "wasting his money", but for attacking him after their loss on Unleashed. Pearce demanded it, and Albright accepted; it's on! Pearce vs. Albright! - THREE, count 'em, three huge main events are signed for Throwdown. First, a non-title four way elimintion tag match has been signed: The Briscoes, Matt Sydal & Jack Evans, Murderdeathkill, and the Motor City Machine Guns! - Secondly, a First Blood match has been signed between Eddie Kingston and Dan Maff. These two have split rivers of blood trying to hurt each other ... now, someone won't win UNLESS he busts the other open. - And third, in a non-title match, Chris Hero is facing Nigel McGuinness. God only knows, where Hero is, BJ Whitmer and Steve Corino can't be far behind. Plus: Roderick Strong, Lacey, Austin Aries, Bryan Danielson, Paul Burchill and Ruckus! ____________________________________________________ Your card for:

Saturday, June 21, 2008:Email:1) WWE got a 2.98 television rating for Smackdown. 2) TNA got a 0.93 television rating for TNA Friday. 3) CMLL got a 0.93 television rating for CMLL Friday. 4) IWA-PR got a 1.19 television rating for High Impact. Results for Throwdown, June 21, 2008: “Only 8 days until Ring Of Honor presents Survival Of The Fittest, live on pay-per-view! Good evening everyone, I’m Jimmy Bauer, alongside Mike Johnson; Survival Of The Fittest may be 8 days off, but tonight might as well be a PPV for how big this show is.” “Jimmy, listen to this: Arik Cannon vs. Tyler Black. A four-way tag match between the company’s top teams. Dan Maff vs. Eddie Kingston in a First Blood match. Chris Hero vs. Nigel McGuinness. That’s only four matches … there’s plenty more, including the next Survival Of The Fittest qualifying match!” “And because Ruckus and Jimmy Jacobs went to a double disqualification last week, the winner of tonight’s qualifying match will be slotted right into the four-way elimination final match!” “And we’re gonna find who out that is right now, Mike!” 1st segment—Kaos vs. Mike Quackenbush, Survival Of The Fittest qualifying match: The “Rock Superstar” Kaos comes to the ring sporting heavy bandages on his forehead from the open wound suffered at the hands of Ruckus. Quack zeroes in on the head injury and it pays dividends, as Kaos can barely get keep his balance, let alone mount an attack. Kaos tries for a comeback, but comes up short on a high-risk aerial move, and Quack seals his PPV ticket with the Quackendriver. **3/4 Afterwards, Ruckus comes down, rips at the bandages until the wound is exposed, then produces a salt shaker and pours salt into the cut. Segment rating: 74% Note: Kaos lost overness. Quack gained overness. 2nd segment—Brent Albright vs. Adam Pearce: “This all came about, Jimmy, because Adam Pearce didn’t get his money’s worth in Brent Albright,” says Mike Johnson. “Maybe he shouldn’t have expected so much from a former Smackdown jobber.” Pearce toys with Albright, going so far as to use signature WWE maneuvers (albeit in a sloppy way); Albright responds by dropping Pearce on his head with vicious suplexes and slams. The finish comes when Albright sets up Pearce on the top turnbuckle for a superplex; Pearce hits a groin shot on Albright, sunset flip powerbombs him, and uses the ropes for leverage to score the pin. ***3/4 But before Pearce can celebrate, Paul Burchill comes in and drives Pearce into the mat with the C4. Segment rating: 74% 3rd segment— Roderick Strong and Lacey are in a hallway in the back. “Jimmy Jacobs,” says Lacey, “let me make something real clear to you. I’m not representing Roderick Strong to get at you. I’m representing Roderick Strong because he is one of Ring Of Honor’s premier wrestlers. I see Roderick Strong, and I see championship belts. I see success. I see magazine covers. Austin Aries and Roderick Strong are cut from the same cloth, so it only makes sense to represent them both. It just so happens that right now, everywhere Roderick Strong and Austin Aries turn, they see you. From here on out, Jimmy Jacobs, my promise to you is this: Roderick Strong is not a stepping stone to Austin Aries. You are a stepping stone to bigger and better things for Roderick Strong. They don’t need me to help exterminate you from Ring Of Honor … but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’ll be damned glad to be at ringside to watch them do it. You have messed with my clients for the last time, Jimmy Jacobs. Roderick Strong is a hundred times the wrestler you could even wish to be. Next time you step in the ring, he’ll prove it.” Segment rating: 73% Note: Lacey gained overness. 4th segment—Claudio Castagnoli & Sonny Siaki vs. “Diamond” Joey Ryan & “Hot Tub” Jimmy Rave w/Studio 54: The representatives of Studio 54 eke out a win over Double C and Siaki with lots of double-team trickery and, in the end, the use of an exposed turnbuckle that Claudio gets introduced to face-first by the Diamond One. It runs plenty past Ryan’s five-minute proclamation (once again), but Ryan still uses the “victory” to announce to the crowd that he’s on his way to a Survival Of The Fittest win. **3/4 As Ryan and Rave celebrate their victory, Claudio and Siaki regroup and pick up the brawl; the foursome trade punches all around the arena, until they disappear from sight. Segment rating: 72% “Malibu” Tyler Black and his manager Larry Sweeney stay in the ring and demand that Arik Cannon come to the ring now to get their match over with. Cannon happily obliges, leading to … 5th segment—Arik Cannon vs. “Malibu” Tyler Black w/Larry Sweeney: Cannon gets a hollow disqualification victory when Black, in trouble, pulls the ref in between him and Cannon as his former partner charges with a clothesline. *** When Black hears the official decision, he DDT’s the ref. Segment rating: 73% 6th segment— A video runs on the screens. Steve Corino is in a graveyard, kneeling by a grave, his back turned to the camera. Wherever he is, it is raining; Corino is wearing a jacket, but doesn’t seem to notice—or doesn’t care—about the water soaking his head. “A real man lives and dies by the value of his word,” says Corino. “If his word, his bond, cannot be trusted, he is worth nothing. I’ve prided myself on living up to every promise I’ve ever made in my life. And now, I’ve broken two promises.” Corino stands up and turns to the camera. “A few years ago, several of us guys from ECW made a vow to look after each other and after each other’s families when the going got tough. I considered Tammy Lynn Sytch to be a sister just the same as Allison is. I promised her again, after Chris died, that I would watch over her, try to help her. And you broke that for me, Chris Hero. She can’t even come see the grave of the only men she ever truly loved for another month because of the injury you inflicted on her. You made me break that promise … and by doing that, you made me break a promise to myself that I would devote all of my focus, all of my heart and soul and time, to winning the Ring Of Honor World Championship. Because now, I have to look my children in the eyes and tell them that Daddy may not be getting the bonus to buy a swimming pool or a Nintendo Wii that comes when Daddy wins a big shiny belt. I may not get that, because now, I have a solemn duty to put you in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. For Chris … for Tammy … for every guy you’ve railroaded since coming to Ring Of Honor … for every person you’ve screwed … this is one promise that I will not break: I promise that, no matter what it takes, no matter what it costs me, I will break you.” Segment rating: 80% 7th segment—“Champagne” Kory Chavis vs. Josh Prohibition: Another chapter in the ongoing Studio 54/Burning River Brigade rivalry is written with a one-on-one match. Unlike the Rave/Cross encounter, the disco-loving bad guys come up short, thanks to bad timing on the part of Jimmy Rave, who clocks his own partner with a chair. Prohibition hits the T-Bone Prohibition-Plex and gets the 3. **1/2 Matt Cross comes out to save his partner, but as he trades punches with Chavis, Rave clips Cross’ knee; Studio 54 pick the BRB apart after that. Segment rating: 73% 8th segment—Dan Maff vs. Eddie Kingston, First Blood match: “There’s a simple reason why this match was booked, Mike Johnson,” says Bauer. “And that’s safety; these two men have done everything short of attempted murder. Every day that their rivalry lingers unresolved is a day that someone else may get caught in the crossfire. ROH officials want this matter put to bed.” “And they think this will be enough?” exclaims Johnson. “Have they seen these two?” There isn’t a thing resembling a wrestling move between Maff and Kingston, and anything that isn’t nailed down ends up becoming a weapon. Kingston manages to draw first blood, but Maff covers up quickly, draws Kingston in, hits a nut shot, and wipes the blood on Kingston. The ref only sees blood on Kingston and calls for the bell. ***1/2 “Oh, great, that solved nothing,” says Bauer. “Way to go, upper management.” Segment rating: 81% 9th segment— Backstage, Bryan Danielson is the training room, trying out moves on one of the training school kids. As the kid screams in pain, the door opens and Austin Aries steps in. “Am-Fag … why don’t you see if you can get that to work on me,” says Aries. Danielson springs up and gestures for Aries to step up. Before either can make a move, wrestlers and road agents swarm the room, keeping the two apart. Both scream at each other over the bodies keeping them apart, vowing to make the other tap at Survival Of The Fittest. Segment rating: 77% 10th segment—The Briscoes vs. The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Matt Sydal & Jack Evans vs. Murderdeathkill, non-title four-corners elimination match: “Jimmy Bauer, this match exists for one reason: we need a number one contender. Whoever wins is bound to be the next in line for a title shot.” “And what if Murderdeathkill wins? They just keep the titles indefinitely?” First fall: Tags come quick, and double-team maneuvers come even quicker, as every team looks to get one of the others out of the way, preferably MDK. Sydal & Evans, the team with the most luck against the reigning tag champs, end up with the worst luck, as they get eliminated first, by The Messiah no less. Second fall: For a second straight fall, history is turned upside down when The Briscoes, who have had the worst luck against MDK in pinfalls or submissions, manage to pin The Messiah on a double-team powerbomb. Final fall: The two teams, terribly familiar with each other from a long rivalry, throw caution to the wind in the fight for a shot at MDK’s tag titles. And like the two pinfalls before, historical precedent is tossed out the window, as Alex Shelley gets a clean pinfall over Mark Briscoe with the Shellshock. ***3/4 Segment rating: 87% “Great, that helped a lot!” says Johnson. “The tag champs got beat by The Briscoes and the Machine Guns beat the Briscoes! Both teams could claim #1 contendership!” “Guess this is why we need a new Commissioner, don’t we?” says Bauer. 11th segment—Chris Hero vs. Nigel McGuinness, non-title match: Even without the title on the line, Hero fights like there is, as Nigel, knowing a win could vault him right back into contention, takes the fight to the champ. They trade stiff kicks and stiff lariats in a constant back-and-forth match. Hero gets McGuinness down and climbs the turnbuckles to finish him off when the lights dim and the music of Steve Corino comes over the PA; with everyone distracted and looking for Corino, BJ Whitmer comes through the crowd, climbs up the turnbuckle and hits Hero with a top rope Wrist Clutch Exploder, then wakes up Nigel. When the ref turns, he sees Nigel putting on the Themes Barrier on an unconscious Hero; the ref signals for the bell, giving the match by KO to McGuinness. ****1/4 As soon as the bell rings, Whitmer is right back in the ring, beating on Hero and posing with the belt to the delight of the crowd. Segment rating: 90% Overall rating: 78% Sunday, June 22, 2008: Email:1) Adam Pearce - I think I should be higher up the card. [He isn’t being promoted to main event, not yet.] 2) Road agents - Dan Maff and Eddie Kingston work pretty well together due to their similar styles. 3) Jimmy Jacobs - I'd like to work with Austin Aries if possible. I did NOT expect WWE to lose those shows, let alone both in one week. They're down to 24% National, and they aren't interested in selling. But I betcha come the start of the month, they have themselves a fire sale on talent. ;D Jed Shaffer ~At least, I hope so. Dammit, LET CM PUNK GO!!!
