Jay Briscoe not only has a chance to advance in the title tournament, but also can get a little revenge for being screwed out of the ROH World Tag Team titles. He has no such luck, however, because Smith’s manager distracts Jay just long enough for Smith to get the older Briscoe in position for the Running Power Slam.
As Sweeney and Smith celebrate in the ring, a cameraman follows Jay backstage. His brother Mark, who watched the match on a nearby monitor, gave him a hard time about losing the match. Jay just tells him where to go and continues to the locker room.

“I know I’m usually out here having a good time and joking around, but that the last thing on my mind right now,” Colt says after welcoming everyone to his talk show, “What is first and foremost in my mind is that my best friend in the whole world is at home in Chicago right now and he doesn’t know who he or anyone else is. Steve Corino, you may have ended not only his wrestling career, but his life as a productive human being. And Corino, I plan on returning the favor tonight. But that isn’t why I’m out here right now and as much as my heart isn’t into it, I have a professional obligation to do this interview. So join me in welcoming my guest tonight, AJ Styles.”
AJ come to the ring looking to be in just a bad of a mood as Cabana. He takes the microphone from the host, “Colt, I understand that you’d rather be in back getting ready for your match tonight, so please go ahead and go. I’m out here to say one thing and one thing only.” Colt thanks him and make his exit. “The reason I came here tonight is two weeks ago I had a man try and terminate my career, just like Corino tried to end CM Punk’s last week. That my was the supposed honorable world champion, Samoa Joe. Joe took me and dropped me head first though the timekeeper’s table and onto the hardwood floor below. I sustained a server concussion from that incident and my doctor told me not to return to action for a month. Now, I am a person who usually forgives and forgets, but last week you had gall to mock me and my injury by dedicating your title match last week to me. You mocked me after you took a month worth of pay away from me, a month’s worth of food off my. Samoa Joe, that is unforgivable and...”
Joe hits the ring and rips the microphone out of AJ’s hand, but gestures that he isn’t looking for a fight. “Whoa man! You’ve got my intentions all wrong!” He explain that he would never intentionally go beyond what he needed to do to win a match, especially going as far as to injure an opponent. He also claims that he was sincere in his dedication last week. “ I do have a lot of respect you, AJ. I also know that you want a rematch, and I’m willing to grant you that rematch as soon as you’re ready for it.” Joe extend a hand of friendship and AJ accepts. However, once Joe turns to leave AJ attacks! He bloodies the Champion, then spits on him before leaving. Joe show what kind of moral fiber he is made of, because he doesn’t retaliate against the injured Styles.

Mark Briscoe is trying to do what his older brother could not earlier in the evening, and that is to make it to the second round, but he’s going to have to beat the mentally unstable Jimmy Jacobs to do that. Things don’t seem to be going well for Mark, but he eventually gets the upper hand. Lacey grabs the hammer that is used to ring the bell and climbs up on the apron and orders Jacobs to throw Mark toward her. She seems like she is going deliver a knock out shot, but Jay runs out and yanks her of the apron and chases her backstage. Totally oblivious to the fact that his brother saved the day, Mark counters Jacobs and hit a Cut Throat Suplex for the win. He’ll fight Morishima in the next round! Sweeney jokes that, “Jay just saved his brother from the beauty, but now he’s going to be eaten by the beast!”

An unusually serious Cabana is out to get revenge for his fellow Second City Saint, CM Punk, who was injured by Corino and Morishima. Corino comes out with Morishima, it looks like he isn’t even going to attempt to fight fair tonight. But Super Dragon appears from the crowd and dives at The Japanese Monster and they brawl to the back. Corino is going to have to fight this one alone! Any resemblance of a wrestling match is purely coincidental as Cabana viciously attacks Corino’s neck. But Cabana is overwhelmed by his own fury, and makes a mistake which allow Corino to get a pin with the leverage of the ropes. Corino, knowing he won’t have backup for anything that may happen post match, exits though crowd before a frustrated Cabana can do anything.
“Cabana let his anger get the best of him Corino managed to take advantage and... what?” Dave Prazak seems to be being told something by someone backstage, “Ladies and Gentleman, not to take away from what just happened, but ROH GM has a huge announcement that he needs to make before the show goes off the air, let’s go to him backstage!”
