Announcers: Kris “So Not The Boss” Kloss & Lenny “No Shame” Lane
Howdy folks! James Wilson here with a review of WSX’s big April supercard, “Showdown in the Sun”. This show was headlined by a “Double Trouble” match between Vampiro, 6-Pac, and Ricky Banderas for the WSX Championship. This show also featured the semi-finals and finals of the WSX Tag Team Championship tournament. MTV really went all out on the musical guest for this show, Ludacris! Move bitch; get out the way…so that we can get to the show!
1. After the announcers had shilled the card and cheesy explosions had rocked the bunker, That 70’s Team, Joey Ryan and Disco Machine, boogied their way down to the ring for the opening match of the night. This match was made due to SeXXXy Eddy offering his “services” to some less than reputable women that had been brought in by That 70’s Team on WSX TV a couple of weeks ago. Ryan and Machine are looking for revenge tonight but have deal with the variable that is Eddy’s mystery partner. After taking some time out to thrust his pelvis at various women in the crowd and giving his phone number to a pretty brunette in the front row as he made his way down to the ring, SeXXXy Eddy stopped on the ramp and commandeered a mic from a ringside technician. Eddy said that it wasn’t easy finding a partner for this match. “I had to find someone that could not only keep with me inside of the ring but could also keep up with me outside of it.” After searching far and wide, the male prostitute said that he had found somebody who fit the bill and he was going to introduce them to the audience. “Hailing from Panama City, ‘The Party Starter’ Christian Neville!” Suddenly, the lights in the WSX bunker go off and the building is plunged into darkness. As the announcers speculated on what was going on, brightly colored laser lights began to flash throughout the bunker as fast-paced techno music began to play. Waving around glow sticks and looking like he just walked out a 24-hour rave, Christian Neville (better known to indie wrestling fans as PAC) walked out from behind the curtain. Seemingly moving in tune with the fast-paced techno music, Neville danced down his way down the ramp. Once he stood side-by-side with Eddy, he disposed of the glow sticks and snatched a beer away from an fan in the front row, downing the alcoholic beverage in record time. After a quick nod towards one another, Eddy & Neville charged into the ring and began teeing off on That 70’s Team!
After the initial four-man melee had died down and the ref had managed to regain some order, Neville started out the match with “Magnum” Joey Ryan. It was almost like “The Party Starter” was a little kid on the world’s biggest sugar rush as he moved with blinding speed, flustering his opponent as he evaded all of his attacks with swift movements and causing Ryan to take several breaks outside of the ring. Seeing that he wasn’t doing very well against the WSX newcomer, Ryan decided to tag in his partner in the hopes that he would fare better. It was not to be, however, as Disco experienced the exact same problem as Ryan and couldn’t string together any offense due to Neville being too damn fast. That 70’s Team finally managed to take themselves off of the defensive thanks to Ryan distracting Neville from the apron so that Disco could jump the party animal from behind. The disco duo slowed down the pace of the match by using various double-team moves to wear the newcomer down. At one point, they grabbed the glowsticks that TAFKA PAC had brought down to the ring and began mocking his entrance! The fun and games were put to an end after Neville countered a Back Body Drop from Disco by landing on his feet and tagged in SeXXXy Eddy! Having rested on the apron for the entirety of the match up until that point, Eddy was the proverbial house of fire and ran wild on the heels, once again making the match into a fast paced affair that benefited him and his partner. Ryan and Disco’s efforts to slow the match back down became futile once Neville reentered the ring. Soon, the match came to an end as Eddy came crashing down Ryan with his signature SeXXX on the Beach (Split-Legged Moonsault) while Neville simultaneously flew off the top rope with a stunning Corkscrew Shooting Star Press onto Disco! After the match had ended and That 70’s Team had sulked to the back, laser lights began flashing throughout the arena again as “The Party Starter” grabbed his glowsticks and began dancing to the beat of the techno music again. Not wanting to be left out, Eddy began gyrating his hips and shaking his money maker in the ring as female extras in the front row began throwing money into the ring! Pro wrestling, everybody.
My thoughts: Fun match to start off the show. Neville is an incredible high-flyer and, if he and Eddy become a regular team, they could put on some really awesome matches. [60%]
2. The second match of the evening was the first WSX Tag Team Tournament Semi-Finals match of the night and it pitted The Cartel (officially represented by Eddie Kingston & Delikado) against Al Katrazz & Luke Hawx. The winner of this match will move on to the finals where they will have a chance to become the inaugural WSX tag champs. Despite neither team being well-liked by the WSX extras, Al Katrazz & Luke became the de-facto faces in the match as they had an uphill battle to fight due to the numbers advantage possessed by the Cartel. As is customary in Cartel matches, El Jefe and Mongol interfered on behalf of their men multiple times and ensured that Al Katrazz & Luke didn’t gain the upper-hand in the match for too long. To their credit, the former convicts fought valiantly as the big man of the team, Al Katrazz, muscled around Kingston and Delikado while his partner used his speed to compliment Al Katrazz’s brute strength. At one point, it looked as if victory was within reach for Al Katrazz & Luke as Al lifted Delikado up for the Lockdown (Alabama Slam) only for Luke to come up and catch the silent Cartel member with a Double Knee Backbreaker on the way down! As Hawx incapacitated Kingston by knocking him off the apron with a dropkick, Al Katrazz hooked Delikado’s leg.
“One…Two…Thr”
The count was interrupted by El Jefe pulling the ref out of the ring! As the leader of the Cartel argued with the ref, Mongol slipped something into the hands of Kingston outside of the ring. The object was revealed to be a steel chain when Kingston wrapped it around his fist and KO’ed Hawx with it when the former convict tried to come after him! He then climbed inside of the ring and did the exact same thing to Al Katrazz, leaving him prone to a Street Cutter (Ace Crusher) from Delikado! Jefe stopped arguing with the ref long enough for the striped official to notice Delikado pinning Al Katrazz, run into the ring, and make the three count! The Cartel are moving onto the finals! After the match, The Cartel placed a dead fish on both Al Katrazz & Luke and posed for the camera while making motions with their hands indicating that the tag titles were coming to them as the crowd booed them.
My thoughts: This match was basically meant to showcase the Cartel as a dominant force. Wasn’t bad by any means but it wasn’t spectacular. On with the show! [59%]
3. The second semi-final match of the Tag Tournament pitted The Filth & The Fury, Teddy Hart & M-Dogg 20, against their old rivals Team Dragon Gate, Masato Yoshino & Genki Horiguchi. Whichever team comes out on top in this match will move onto the finals to take on the Cartel. As expected, this match was incredibly fast paced as both teams went full tilt at one another in order to earn a chance to become WSX’s inaugural tag champs. Having wrestled each other numerous times before, both teams had their opponents well scouted and waited to see who would make that crucial first mistake. That mistake was made by Teddy Hart, who crashed and burned on an attempted Moonsault onto Yoshino. Team Dragon Gate pounced on the mistake and proceeded to pick Hart apart with brutal efficiency. With their manager Francoise giving them instructions from ringside, Yoshino and Horiguchi used their technical ability to lock Hart in various painful-looking submissions moves, focusing in particularly on his knee which he seemed to have landed on roughly after missing the Moonsault. Hart tried to tag out to his partner at several points but, every time, his bum knee would give out on him and he would get dragged away from M-Dogg so that more punishment could be inflicted on him. Hart finally managed to catch a break when he avoided a Senton Bomb from Yoshino and all but hopped over to his corner so that he could tag in M-Dogg! The former backyarder was firing on all cylinders as he came flying into the ring with a Springboard Dropkick to both members of Team Dragon Gate. Concern began to show on Francoise’s face as M-Dogg turned the tide of the match and managed to fend off both Yoshino and Horiguchi on his own. It looked like M-Dogg was going to pick up the win by himself after he nailed Horiguchi with a picture perfect Death From Above (Shooting Star Press) but Yoshino was able to save the match for his team by breaking up the pin. Sensing that victory was near, Hart tried to enter the ring and help his partner but due to his knee, he was disposed of rather easily by the Puro stars and was sent tumbling to the outside. With Francoise screaming in Japanese at them, Yoshino & Horiguchi tried to go in for the kill. Horiguchi held M-Dogg in place so that Yoshino could hit him with a Double Knee Facebreaker! Instead of letting go of his opponent, Horiguchi held on to M-Dogg and brought him crashing down on the top of his head with a Bridging German Suplex! The ref made the count!

Thre-NO! M-Dogg got his shoulder up at 2 & 7/8!
If the look on Yoshino & Horiguchi’s face didn’t properly express shock and frustration at M-Dogg kicking out, Francoise’s screeching certainly did. With her previously tied up hair now flowing freely and a snarl etched across her face, Francoise fervently shouted commands to her men in Japanese. Whatever she was saying to Team Dragon Gate caused both men to recoil in fear and drag M-Dogg up to his feet so that they could truly deliver the death blow. Horiguchi lifted M-Dogg up and put him in position for his signature Beach Break (Back to Belly Piledriver) while Yoshino ascended to the top rope. Somehow, the former backyarder slipped out of Horiguchi’s grasp and snapped off a Release Dragon Suplex! Before Yoshino could react to his partner being dropped on his head, he was thrown from the top rope and sent to the outside by Teddy Hart, who had recovered from being tossed out of the ring earlier. After being tagged in by M-Dogg, Hart ignored the pain in his knee and soared off the top rope with the Open Hart Surgery (Corkscrew Senton) to Horiguchi! He hooked the Dragon Gate star’s leg as his partner prevented Yoshino from reentering the ring.

Three! The Filth & The Fury are moving on to the finals!
As Francoise screamed in despair, the faces posed on the turnbuckles for the cheering crowd as the announcers hyped up their match against The Cartel later in the night. After Team Dragon Gate had recovered outside of the ring, they were dressed down by their manager. After she had berated them and said many harsh sounding Japanese words, she seemingly gave orders to her men as they reentered the ring and jumped The Filth & The Fury as they posed on the turnbuckles! With Francoise directing traffic, Horguchi dropped M-Dogg 20 with the Beach Break as Yoshino dragged Hart over the ring post and placed his leg, the one that had been worked over for most of the match, around it. Snatching a steel chair from ringside, Horiguchi smashed the chair into Hart’s injured knee! Thankfully, before the foreign trio could do any more damage to Hart’s knee, WSX security (Wait, WSX has security?!) intervened and stopped the carnage. Team Dragon Gate then retreated up the ramp as their manager continued to berate them for their loss. Meanwhile, security and medical staff attended to Hart, who was grimacing from the pain that his knee was causing him. The announcers solemnly speculated on whether or not Hart would even be able to compete in the finals considering the bad shape that his knee was in!
My thoughts: As expected, these two teams had a great match, the best one on the show so far. It’ll be hard to top this one. I’m somewhat surprised that Team Dragon Gate didn’t even make it to the finals but I guess a babyface team is necessary to counteract the villainous Cartel. Although, based on what happened after the match, The Filth & The Fury might not even be able to compete. [68%]
- After a quick commercial break, the music of…UGH… Matt Sydal blared over the speakers as the Master of the Shooting Sydal Press made his way to the ring. Ever since his girlfriend Lizzy Valentine received a mysterious letter, the couple’s relationship has been on the rocks due to Sydal being extremely suspicious of the letter’s contents and Lizzy’s reluctance to get rid of it. After commandeering a mic from a ringside crew member, Sydal got straight to the point and asked Lizzy to come to the ring. Initially, there was no response but after Sydal pleaded again for his “boo” to come out, Lizzy acquiesced to his demands and entered the ring. With her arms crossed and a questioning look on her face, Lizzy listened as Sydal addressed the relationship problems that they had been having. Sydal said that he knows that the two haven’t been on the best of terms in the past few weeks but he really does want to make it right. “I love you, babe. You’re my soul mate.” Sydal stated that after much contemplation, he’s ready to do what he has to do make their relationship work. He’s ready to forgive her for acting so irrational. The look of disdain on her face indicated that Lizzy was NOT happy with this comment. Oblivious to his girlfriend’s anger, Sydal went on to say that their relationship problems solely stemmed from her deceitfulness and the fact that she clearly cheated on him with some bum in a moment of weakness. He was angry before but now, he is ready to forgive her for her “mistakes”, overlook that love letter, and let her back into their apartment. “Let’s go home, babe!”, proclaimed Sydal as he leaned in for a kiss. Stopping the kiss by placing her index finger on his lips, Lizzy took the mic away from Sydal and, with an incredulous look on her face, asked Sydal if he was serious.
Lizzy admitted that she did deserve blame for trying to hide the letter from Sydal. Confirming Sydal’s suspicions, Lizzy said that the letter was a love letter from a secret admirer. She said that the letter warmed her heart and caused her to contact the admirer. Above all, the letter caused her to reevaluate her relationship with Sydal. More specifically, it made her realize how unhappy she was with Sydal. According to Lizzy, this admirer treated her with much more respect and love than Sydal ever did during their time together. “This admirer said things to me that me feel like I was the most important person in the world. He looked me in the eye, not at my chest, while talking to me and didn’t hug me just so that he could cop feels of my butt. He made me feel like a real human being with thoughts and feelings instead of some trophy girlfriend that he can show off at parties.” Lizzy said that after much contemplation, she was leaving Sydal for her secret admirer! Oh snap! In disbelief that he just got dumped on national television, Sydal said that Lizzy was making the biggest mistake of her life. “How can you give up these ripped abs and this gorgeous face for some skinny, pencil-necked, sensitive geek?!” Lizzy quickly corrected Sydal and informed him that while her admirer may be sensitive, he isn’t skinny and he certainly isn’t a pencil-necked geek. “In fact, I’ll tell him to show up this Wednesday on WSX TV so that you can get a good look at a man that knows how treat a lady with respect!” Pleased at having embarrassed her now ex-boyfriend in front of millions of people, Valentine exited the ring while Sydal remained in a state of shock.
My thoughts: I can’t stand Sydal but he wasn’t terrible in this segment. In fact, I would even go as far as to say I was…entertained by this segment. It was silly and soap opera-ish but this IS WSX after all. It comes with the territory. I guess we’ll have to wait until this Wednesday to see who Lizzy’s secret admirer (and new boyfriend, I guess) is. [58%]
4. After taking a break from the action, it’s time for more tag team action in the form of a four team elimination match to decide who will get the first shot at the WSX Tag Team titles at a later date. The Trailer Park Boys (Nate Webb & Josh Raymond), Keepin’ It Gangsta (Babbi Slymm & Ruckus), Los Pochos Guapos (Kaos & Aaron Aguilera), and D.I.F.H. (Tyler Black & Jimmy Jacobs) all want to be the first team to get a shot at the tag titles. There is one competitor missing from this match as it seems that Kaos was unsuccessful in his quest to find Aguilera as he came down to the ring by himself. Despite the odds being against him, Kaos looked determined to secure a title shot for himself and his missing partner. The opening minutes of the match featured non-stop action as every man got a minute or two to wrestle in the ring before tagging someone else to come in and take their place so that they could stay fresh. The first elimination was no real surprise as it seemed like The Trailer Park Boys were one step behind all of the other competitors in the match and just couldn’t keep up with the fast paced action. Soon enough, Nate Webb was put down for a three count by a Contra Code (Shiranui) from Jimmy Jacobs (First elimination: The Trailer Park Boys).
With the field having been lowered to three teams, the action slowed down a bit as Kaos, after taking a bit of a beating in the opening minutes of the match, wisely decided to take a breather on the apron as DIFH and Keepin’ It Gangsta did battle. Black and Jacobs had a clear speed advantage over the gangstas but it was somewhat neutralized by Ruckus & Slymm’s willingness to get “down and dirty” and incorporate tactics usually used by heels into their move set. They’re thugs and the crowd likes them so it’s OK. The second elimination finally came when Ruckus tried to come off the top rope with a 450 Splash onto Black but ended up hitting nothing but canvas as the angry emo moved out of the way. After getting back on his feet, Ruckus was drilled with a vicious Superkick from Black, leaving him unable to get his shoulder up before the ref’s count hit three (Second Elimination: Keepin’ It Gangsta).
Now tasked with wrestling what was essentially a handicap match, Kaos showed no fear and went after DIFH with everything he had. It was still two men against one, however, and Kaos soon ran out of gas, leaving him prone to various tag maneuvers from Black & Jacobs. To his credit, the former XPW star managed to stay alive and kicked out of any pinfall attempts made by DIFH. Despite his resiliency, it was clear that Kaos was on his last legs after taking a two-on-one beating for several minutes. Wanting to put the poor man out of his misery, Jacobs grabbed ahold of Kaos’ head and went for the Contra Code so that Black (the legal man at the time) could pin him. Somehow, the former XPW star mustered up the strength to throw Jacobs off of him and send him crashing to the outside! Seeing that his partner was in trouble, Black attempted to take Kaos’ head off his shoulders with a Superkick but Kaos ducked under it and caught Black with a Schoolboy Rollup! Black managed to get his shoulders off the mat before the ref’s count hit three but was unprepared for Kaos to use his last bit of strength to hit him with the Kaostrophe (Sitout Inverted Suplex Slam). TAFKA “The Rock Superstar” all but collapsed onto Black as the ref made the three count and awarded him the shocking victory! Against all odds, Kaos has earned a title shot for himself and Aguilera! The crowd gave a big reaction to the Los Pochos Guapos member as he rolled out of the ring with his arms raised in celebration and headed to the back. He may be bruised and battered but is walking out with a victory on this night.
My thoughts: An enjoyable match. It was messy at times but it was also all kinds of fun. [53%]
5. With the WSX Top Flight championship (literally) hanging in the balance, Jack Evans, Human Tornado, & Kid Kash did battle in a Sky-High 3-way. Prior to the match starting, it was explained that a “Sky-High 3-Way” was actually a three way ladder match. In their quest to capture the title hanging high overhead, both Evans and Tornado used the ladder as a springboard for their high-risk offense, most of which was directed towards Kash. One highlight of the match was Evans running up a ladder that was set up in the corner turnbuckle and jumping off to catch Kash with a Corkscrew Senton! At another point, Tornado placed on top of Kash before coming off the top rope with a High-Angle Senton Bomb. In contrast to his opponents, Kash relied less on flashy moves and more on brutality when using the ladder as a weapon. An attempted Springboard into the ring by Tornado was countered by Kash launching a ladder at him, causing WSX’s resident P-I-M-P to crumple to the mat. Kash reveled in the pain that was etched across Evans’ face as “The Prince of Parkland” was placed in between the rungs of a ladder and had pressure applied to his back courtesy of a Boston Crab. Despite the experience edge that he held over both of his opponents, Kash was taken out of the equation in the final few minutes of the match after taking a brutal Tornado-Plex from the apron to the concrete floor! This left the two fan favorites to duke it out and try to be the first one secure the Top Flight championship. Both men exhausted their high flying arsenal trying to incapacitate their adversary long enough to climb the ladder and win the match but were simply unable to get the job done.
Eventually, the match boiled down to both men trading blows on top of the ladder. After at least a dozen blows had been traded between the two, Evans managed to catch Tornado with one final punch that sent the pimp crashing down to the mat. With victory inches away, Evans reached for the title belt but was suddenly sent crashing down to the mat! No, it was not an act of God but an act of Kash as he smashed another ladder into Evans’ side! The grin on Kash’s face could only be described as shit-eating as he slowly climbed the rungs of the ladder that was set up in the ring until he reached the top. His sure-fire victory was interrupted by Tornado springboarding off the ropes to catapult himself to the top rungs of the ladder! Screaming at Tornado to “just stay down!”, Kash tried to knock the pimp off the ladder but only received several shots to the face for his troubles! With the crowd willing him on and “The Notorious K.I.D.” momentarily dazed, Tornado reached up high as his fingers brushed against the belt! That was as close as he came to the title, sadly, as Kash regained his senses and actually BIT TORNADO’S NOSE! This caught Tornado off-guard long enough for Kash to get a grip on the title belt and smash the belt into the side of the pimp’s head! Naturally, Tornado went tumbling to the mat and, with no one left to stop him, Kash yanked down the title belt and was officially crowned as the first ever Top Flight champion! Ignoring the boos being rained down upon him by the crowd, the new champion raised the title belt high over his head and proclaimed that everybody in the building and in the locker room had better start showing him the respect that he deserves. Kash showed tonight just how far he is willing to go to showcase his view of what wrestling should be.
My thoughts: Hell of a match. I don’t think it was as good as the Team Dragon Gate/The Filth & The Fury match but it was close. There were all kinds of insanity during the match and the right man won as a Kash victory here can only serve to advance his character. [65%]
6. As it turned out, The Filth & The Fury were able to compete in the finals of the WSX Tag Team tournament against The Cartel. Unfortunately for them, Teddy Hart’s knee, which was targeted by Team Dragon Gate earlier in the night, was clearly still affecting him as he had a large brace around it and was walking with a very defined limp. Not wanting his partner to suffer any more damage to his knee, M-Dogg insisted that he start the match for the team. Initially, he performed very well against Eddie Kingston & Delikado, keeping his opponents off-guard with his fast-paced style. The Cartel would soon take control of the match, however, due to M-Dogg 20 still suffering the effects of the post-match beatdown by Team Dragon Gate earlier in the night which forced him to slow down. Kingston & Delikado didn’t even require help from Mongol or their leader, El Jefe, as they took turns hammering away on the former backyarder. From the apron, Hart pleaded with his partner to tag him in but M-Dogg refused, knowing that his knee would be a huge bull’s-eye for the Cartel. Finally, after spending most of the match on the defensive, M-Dogg went against his better judgment and tagged Hart in. Surprisingly, Hart actually held his own against the two cholos despite his bum knee. He used Kingston & Delikado’s overaggressive nature against them by allowing them to go after him and then taking advantage of their mistakes. Seeing that his men weren’t faring too well, El Jefe intervened, quickly grabbing Hart’s ankle when the Hart Dungeon graduate was standing near the ropes. This distracted Hart long enough for Delikado to hit him with a brutal Chop Block to his injured knee! As M-Dogg feared, The Cartel methodically picked apart Hart’s knee, even going as far as to rip the brace off so that the knee was completely unprotected. Even Mongol & El Jefe took cheap shots at the knee whenever Hart was thrown to the outside much to the dismay of M-Dogg and the announcers. With the stakes as high as they were, Hart did his best to ignore the excruciating pain that his knee was causing him and to fight against the cholos. It wasn’t enough; however, as the four-on-two advantage the Cartel always possessed was just too much and Hart could never find time to tag in his partner. Just when it seemed like all hope was lost for The Filth & The Fury, two figures came running out from behind the curtain with steel chairs in hand.
Lenny Lane: “Wait a minute, that’s DIFH! What are they doing out here?!”
Tyler Black and Jimmy Jacobs made a beeline for El Jefe & Mongol and swung for the fences at both men! Wisely, Jefe and Mongo quickly retreated to the back as DIFH went after them. This must be DIFH paying the Cartel back for taking their spot in the tournament! Inside the ring, Kingston and Delikado watched as their fellow Cartel members were chased away from ringside. This break in the action allowed Hart to make the hot tag to M-Dogg 20! The absences of El Jefe & Mongol at ringside had clearly thrown Kingston and Delikado off their game as they were powerless to stop a fired up M-Dogg from sending both of them flying across the ring with Hurricaranas and Tilt-a-Whirl Headscissors and giving his partner some much needed rest. After being put on the backfoot for a few minutes, The Cartel managed to regroup and regain control of the match, utilizing the two-on-one advantage that they possess over M-Dogg. That advantage doesn’t last for long as a blind tag from a somewhat recovered Teddy Hart allowed the Hart Dungeon graduate to re-enter the fray. The closing moments of the match saw M-Dogg & Delikado brawling around the ringside area while Hart, who was basically fighting on one leg at this point, got worked over by Kingston on the inside. With Hart at his mercy, Kingston raised his fist high in the air, signaling that he was going for the Backfist to the Future. Somehow, Hart managed to duck under it and catch Kingston with a Small Package rollup!

THREE!!! Against all odds, The Filth & The Fury are the inaugural WSX Tag Team Champions! Hart & M-Dogg were awarded their newly won titles by the official and raised them up high, proud of their accomplishment. Meanwhile, The Cartel went nuts on the outside, destroying anything that wasn’t nailed to the ground and antagonizing several fans at ringside. You have to imagine that El Jefe is not happy with this match result.
My thoughts: Solid match that told a good story. Hart’s “injury” really made it seem like the Filth & The Fury had to earn their title win and made the belts seem so much more important. [66%]
- It is now time for the main event of the evening! Before any of the competitors made their way out to the ring, however, ring announcer Fabian Kaelin did his best to hype up the main event and get the extras excited.
*BOOM BOOM BOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM*
He even triggers more explosions that rock the bunker! Kaelin’s shameless shilling is put to a stop by Scorpio Sky storming out from the back and entering the ring. Of course, Sky is carrying his shitty high school awards. As the announcers speculated on Sky’s appearance, “The Greatest” snatched the mic away from Kaelin and told the obnoxious announcer to scram which Kaelin does. After glaring at the crowd, Sky said that he is sick and tired of people not listening to him! For the past few weeks, he’s tried to make a very important announcement but people keep interrupting him. “Nobody in this company respects me! Well, if nobody in this company is going to respect me, they can all learn to fear me! ‘Why would people fear me?’, you might be asking? My announcement is that, effective tonight, I am the commissioner of Wrestling Society X!” A collective “WHAT?!” from the announcers summed up the crowd’s (and mine for that matter) reaction to the announcement. “That’s right! It was decided by the WSX Board of Directors (So, MTV basically) that WSX needs some kind of authority figure to run the company and ensure that order is maintained. Due to my impressive credentials (Sky pauses to lift his high school awards) , they chose me to be that authority figure. I have the power now!” After soaking in the boos for a moment, Sky gave one final warning before taking his leave. “To every wrestler in the back that has disrespected me and treated me like I was trash, some insignificant nobody, I have NOT forgotten about you. I plan on showing you what happens when you disrespect “The Greatest Commissioner in WSX History! Enjoy the main event, folks!”
My thoughts: So, Sky actually DID have a big announcement to make! Sky is fairly charismatic so he should fit well into the “authority figure” role. [49%]
7. NOW, it’s time for the main event! This match was contested under Double Trouble rules which mean that someone must achieve a pinfall or submission victory over both of their opponents before they can be declared the winner. In an attempt to antagonize Ricky Banderas and Vampiro, 6-Pac came out to the ring wearing the WSX championship as if it was his penis and told everybody in the building to “suck it” while performing multiple crotch chops. From the get-go, this match was fast and furious as there was no love lost between any of the men involved. In particular, Banderas and Vampiro tore into one another without remorse, the bad blood between the two boiling over. Knowing that he had to gain a decision over both men if he wished to win the coveted WSX Championship, Pac allowed the two monsters to go at it while he picked his spots here and there in hopes that they would wear each other out so that he could come in and pick up the scraps. This plan went out the window when Banderas, still angry about Pac throwing a fireball in his face a couple of weeks ago on WSX TV, started attacking the degenerate and throwing him around the ring. Now being forced to take a more active role in the match, Pac tried to fend off Banderas’ assault with his educated feet. Shortly afterwards, Vampiro went after both men, turning the match into an all-out three-way war.
The first decision of the match was a bit of a shocker. After nailing 6-Pac with a Big Boot to the face, Banderas turned his attention to Vampiro and tried to plant him with La Muerte (TKO) but the former WSX champion was able to slip out of his grasp. Vampiro quickly bounced off the ropes and caught Banderas flush in the face with a Spinning Wheel Kick. Vampiro then managed to hoist Banderas up and plant him with a thunderous Tombstone Piledriver! Before he could make the cover, he was caught with a boot to the side of the head from a recovered 6-Pac! With Vampiro incapacitated, Pac threw himself onto Banderas’ body and picked up the pinfall decision! 6-Pac just pinned the WSX Champion!
Knowing that he was a single decision away from becoming the new WSX champion, Pac went after Vampiro with vigor. The Mexican wrestling legend refused to stay down, however, and managed to kick out of the degenerate’s pinfall attempts. Frustrated with his inability to put Vampiro away, Pac switched up his game plan and tried to gain a submission victory. The former WWE/F star tenderized Vampiro’s legs with his deadly kicks, trying to take the big man off of his feet. Once he managed that feat, he tied Vampiro up in a Boston Crab. Cranking back as hard as he could, the degenerate screamed for the “vampire freak” to just tap out. It was not to be, however, as Banderas’ broke up the submission by damn near taking Pac’s head off with a Lariat! The WSX champion hooked his victim’s leg but, somehow, Pac mustered up the strength to kick out! Furious at Pac for gaining a decision off of him, Banderas focused his efforts on 6-Pac, battering the veteran’s face with vicious elbows. It’s only with a well-placed kick to the groin that Pac is able to get away from Banderas’ onslaught. Unfortunately for the degenerate, he then had to deal with Vampiro. After snapping off an impressive Hurricarana, Vampiro tried to go in for the kill and plant Pac with a Tombstone Piledriver. Once he was on Vamprio’s shoulders, Pac raked the Vampire Warrior’s eyes, giving himself the opening needed to escape the move. With Vampiro temporarily unable to defend himself, Pac blasted him with a Superkick! He made the cover!

Vampiro gets his shoulder up! Pac can’t believe it! Being so close to victory that he can taste it, the former WWE star dragged Vampiro up to his feet and kicked him in the gut in preparation for the 6-Factor. When he tried to go for the move, however, he was pushed off. Pac rushed towards the honorary Juggalo but was lifted high into the air in a Military Press Slam position! Before Vampiro could send Pac crashing down to the mat, Banderas tore through his arch-rival with a Spear! With both men going down in a heap, Banderas was free to hook Vampiro’s leg and pick up a pinfall decision! All Banderas has to do now is beat 6-Pac to retain his championship!
Not wanting to give the degenerate time to recover, Banderas went on the attack. He used his brute strength to toss the smaller man all around the ring and wear him down with various Suplexes. Pac tried to mount a comeback here and there but remained at the mercy of the WSX Champion. Surprisingly enough, it was Vampiro that ended up being Pac’s savior as he tackled Banderas’ down to the ground and began peppering his arch-rival with punches! Not usually one for displays of emotion, Vampiro seemingly fed off of the crowd’s energy as he tried to gain a decision over the man that took “his life” away from him. Banderas’ showed why he was the WSX champion by being resilient and soon enough, both men were back on their feet and matching each other blow-for-blow. A vicious Headbutt to an unsuspecting Banderas allowed the former WCW star to gain the upper hand and hit his rival with a thunderous Chokeslam! Before Vampiro could pin him, however, Banderas rolled out of the ring in an attempt to get himself a much needed breather. The Vampire Warrior couldn’t focus on the WSX champion for too much longer as 6-Pac came flying off the top rope with a Moonsault to the standing Vampiro. Somehow, Vampiro managed to catch Pac in mid-air! With the degenerate already in perfect position for the move, Vampiro dropped him on his head with a Tombstone Piledriver! Three seconds later, every man in the match had secured a decision.
In order to win back the title that he had called his life, Vampiro had to do something that he had yet to have done in WSX. Defeat Ricky Banderas. Seeing that his target was still resting on the outside, Vampiro decided to take a risk and went flying over the top rope with a beautiful Plancha onto Banderas! As the extras and the announcers went nuts, Vampiro threw Banderas back into the ring and pinned him.

Thr-NO! The WSX champion had enough left in the tank to kick out. With the lure of championship gold willing him on, Vampiro shakes off his frustration and exhausts his move set in an attempt to keep Banderas down for a three count. Although coming close on several occasions, he is unable to win the championship before Pac re-inserts himself to the match with a sickening chair shot to the former WSX champion’s skull! Taking full advantage of WSX’s “No-DQ, No count out” rule, 6-Pac had just laid out Vampiro! Knowing that chair shot had just won him the WSX championship, the degenerate dropped down and hooked Vampiro’s leg.

Banderas’ breaks up the pin and keeps the match alive! He may hate Vampiro’s guts but Banderas knows that he has to stop Pac from pinning him if he wants to walk out as the champion. Realizing that he has to take out Banderas before he can finish off Vampiro, Pac picked up the steel chair again and swung right at the WSX champion’s head. Banderas had the wherewithal to Big Boot the steel chair right into Pac’s face! He then covered Pac.

6-PAC KICKED OUT! The match continued in this manner for a few more minutes. One man would come close to beating the person they needed to beat in order to win the match but either the person being pinned would kick out or the third participant in the match would keep the match going by breaking it up. As the match went into the final stretch, all three competitors were exhausted. As 6-Pac was resting on the outside, Vampiro worked over the WSX champion, using what little strength he had left to kick and punch his rival. Vampiro then bounced off the ropes and caught Banderas with a Running Knee to the face! The Vampire Warrior’s exhaustion caused him to hesitate in going for the pin. This hesitation allowed the WSX champion to kick out! Deciding to go for broke; Vampiro dragged Banderas to his feet one last time before wrapping his hand around his throat. The Mexican wrestling legend was unable to Chokeslam his rival, however, due to Banderas throwing a fireball in his face! JEEZUS!
Vampiro’s hands rushed to shield his burned eyes. At the same time, Pac had reentered the ring with the steel chair in his hands. He rushed towards Banderas and swung for the fences, hoping that this shot would be the one to put the champion out of commission. It took somebody out of commission, just not Banderas. Banderas side-stepped the swing, causing the chair to go crashing into the blinded Vampiro’s head! Pac’s intended target, Banderas, lifted the degenerate onto his shoulders and planted him with the La Muerte! He made the cover!

THREE! In a hellacious main event that saw all three men give it their all (and then some), Ricky Banderas has managed to hang onto the WSX championship! After snatching the title away from the official, Banderas exited the ring and all of the carnage that was in it. The final scene before the broadcast ended was 6-Pac and Vampiro lying defeated in the ring while Banderas walked up the ramp, clutching the WSX title to his chest with a sadistic smile on his face.
My thoughts: What a freaking match to end on the show on. I’d say that this is tied with the match between The Filth & The Fury/Team Dragon Gate for match of the night honors. All three men worked their asses off in this match and it showed. [69%]

So, two months after I promised it, Showdown in the Sun is finally here! A couple matches, the main event in particular, ended up being longer than I would have liked but overall, I'm happy with the show.
