Promotion: Extreme Championship Wrestling
Difficulty: Hard
Date: January 1st, 2001
Agenda: Hardcore Revolution
Prologue: This is my first time recording my game in EWR, so I may switch around my format or style a few times at first. But I'll try my best to include the story I'm going for and also include info about the behind the scenes stuff when necessary (which is basically the first half of this post). Anyways, I just enjoy playing this game quite a bit and I thought it could be cool to share my quest with other people; also, if you have any recommendations let me know.
Day 1, Monday 1-1-2001
Beginning this year it seems Paul Heyman business-sense, or lack thereof, have put the ECW in a tough position. So as a last ditch effort Paul gave me a call on Christmas night to see if I'd be
interested in helping him revive the ECW promotion before the global predators pounce on our dying company. Step one, bring in the money.
In order to make sure this extreme promotion sees extreme profit in the upcoming months, we will need some dependable sponsors. As we are a national promotion at 75% image we were able to wrangle Stacker 2 as our main sponsor and Sega, Acclaim and 1-800 collect as our minor sponsors.
This should make us a financially stable company for months to come. Now it is time to see what kind of roster Mr. Heyman has compiled.

Now, it's nothing personal with the workers I released, I just didn't see them as either a very exciting catalyst or a very worthwhile entertainer. If we're going to be the best, we need the
best. Although my remaining core is strong, some have low morale after the mass re-assessment.
Also, Sophie now tells me I will need to hire 25 workers to appear as a professional company, this is where my scouts will have to earn their paychecks (or dignity, since they're not getting paid).

Workers Hired:
2 Cold Scorpio
Beulah McGillicutty

SABU!
-Acculumative written monthly salary of signed workers: $2,436,000
After thoroughly sifting through the 2001 professional wrestling free agency class, I have decided this massive overhaul of the ECW roster will suit me and hopefully the ECW faithful, just as long
as I have some sinister plans for Mr. Bischoff somewhere down the road. Although the total salary of the incoming roster is quite substantial, I think my sponsors and other income will be able to handle the load.
Following the new additions written contracts I decide there's no point in open contracts remaining a part of our promotion, it's just simply not worth the risk. One day Vince McMahon will come knockin'
for some superstars because he snoozed all day long while I was signing up the top-tier talent. Well Mr. McMahon you snooze you don't get the Hart Foundation. Which leaves me with the contractual
task of resigning the remaining original workers to written contracts.
-----
Resigned original workers:
Bill Alfonso
Blue Meanie
Dawn Marie
Francine
Jack Victory
James Mitchell
Jasmin St. Claire
Jerry Lynn
Joel Gertner
Justin Credible
Kid Kash
Little Guido
Mikey Whipwreck
Paul Heyman
Rhyno
Rob Van Dam
Sandman
Spike Dudley
Steve Corino
Super Crazy
Tajiri
Tommy Dreamer
Tony Mamaluke
-Accumalative written monthly salary of resigned workers: $1,742,000
-Accumalative written monthly salary of whole roster: $4,178,000
Overall that is quite a large sum of money to deal with right away but as long as I can get a TV show or two on top of Hardcore TV; I should be alright, financially. Unfortunately there was one worker
I couldn't get to resign a written contract with me as a result of me firing all his friends. My current ECW World Champion, Steve Corino, wouldn't resign citing his low morale (39) as the reason, just
give it time Steve, be patient; but you will have to defend the title night one sucka! In order for that to be a match for the ages I will need to sign the best staff I possibly can, Sophie tells me the best
I can get is a 90 talent or below; we shall see.
-----
New staff hired:
Tony Carlucci
Jim Molineux
Bones McCoy
James Kirk
Del Wilkes
Alex Crichoton
Kevin Eldon
Helen Cuthill
Tony Cottee
Rey Misterio
David Schulz
Afa the Wild Samoan
-Accumalative monthly salary of new staff: $325,000
Original staff members:
Joey Styles
Cyrus
Danny Daniels
John Finnegan
-Accumulative monthly salary of original staff: $109,000
-Accumulative monthly salary of whole staff: $434,000
A successful day one thus far, just one task remaining. Television is going to be a major part to ECW becoming a successful business as well as an elite wrestling promotion, so I will need to target
a network. My risk level is currently at 80% and my production values are at 50%, this could limit interested networks. To keep with the spirit of ECW, I won't lower the risk; not yet anyway. After
assessing the possibilities, I've decided to send my tape to Urban American, not much of an audience, but with my financial limitations and risky material they were the most viable option; just as long as
they consider me for late night programming.
Just one more adjustment, I will change my advertising to 100%. Although it will cost a few extra bucks it will help vault me into the global competition within a year or two, which is where I want to be.
1-2-2001
Alright, that's enough hiring people; I don't even know if I'll have enough money to pay these people with only one TV show and one PPV. Any which way, we have some wrastlin' to do; let's start some feuds!
Major Feuds:
Sandman vs. Vader - Heat: 87
Ultimo Dragon vs. Jerry Lynn - Heat: 83
Bret Hart vs. Ken Shamrock - Heat: 75
Other Feuds:
Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Super Crazy - Heat: 72
Rhino vs. Sabu - Heat: 60
Randy Savage vs. Justin Credible - Heat: 66
Rob Van Dam vs. 2 Cold Scorpio - Heat: 51
Masato Tanaka vs. Steve Corino - Heat: 50
As you can see I've got some work to do in order to heat up my feuds. I landed a couple solid rivalries, but also a few duds it would seem. I was questionable about Rhino vs. Sabu, but I think their brawl skill matches up well. Randy Savage's feud with Justin Credible may seem odd, but I think it could get interesting, and should help Credible get over. The Hitman against Shamrock seemed like sort of a no-brainer, but we'll see how the matches are; I thought it would garner more initial heat, especially since Bret Hart is so damn old (46) this year.
It seems things are ready to get rolling. Since I only have one show per week it will be tricky to get all the workers involved, but we'll make it happen somehow or another. After checking and
altering my event schedule, just to make sure all my large events are PPV and have classy ECW titles; my first big event is Guilty as Charged on January 21st. That's that, day two is finished and
we're ready for the first 2001 episode of Hardcore TV, the first step toward redemption.
1-4-2001
I know I should keep my roster managable, especially now, but the WWF fired John Cena and Brock Lesnar, WCW rid itself of AJ Styles, so I snatched 'em up for a cool hundred grand or so. This move puts me at 51 workers and even more potential debt.
Also, on this day I entered a bidding war with WCW for the rights of Rey Mysterio. I won the bidding war, but the price is steep. Mysterio will join us in 3 months at 203,000 per month. If anyone is worth that kind of cash, it's Mysterio; who was a wrestler in ECW during the past for a short time.
1-5-2001
After the first taping of Hardcore TV, we have our new champions. Bret Hart won the ECW World title in a fatal 4-way over Shamrock, Corino and Tanaka. Tommy Dreamer became ECW TV champion
after beating Rhino and Sabu in a triple threat hardcore match. Public Enemy won the tag titles in a ladder match over Mikey Whipwreck and Spike Dudley. Also, Vader debuted in an attack on
Sandman and 2 Cold Scorpio and Ultimo Dragon debuted in a win over Jerry Lynn and RVD; 2 Cold Scorpio also debuted his new gimmick as the Evil Pimp, Johnny Grunge as a stoner, and Rocco Rock
the mentor to the stoner (gotta know where to find the good buds I suppose).
*Show Rating - 74%
1-12-2001
Week two of Hardcore TV saw further debuts over the graveyard hours. Randy Savage debuted in an deulling microphones with Justin Credible to start the show. Eric Bischoff then made his debut as
Ken Shamrock's manager.
Match Results:
-Psicosis over Ultimo Dragon by interference by Jerry Lynn in Psicosis' debut
-Jushin Thunder Liger over Super Crazy in Jushin Liger's debut
-Randy Savage and Sandman over Vader and Justin Credible
*Show Rating - 75%
1-19-2001
Week three of Hardcore TV took the heat up a notch between the Hitman and Shamrock. Bret Hart was lured into a Shamrock attack by his former boss Eric Bischoff following his match. Beulah McGillicutty debuted as the TV champ, Tommy Dreamer's manager.
Match Results:
-Jim Neidhart over Blue Meanie in the opener for Neidhart's debut
-AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan over Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke in Styles' and Bryan's debut
-Rhino over Bret Hart by interference by Ken Shamrock, 2-on-1 attack would follow
*Show Rating - 67%
[glow=red,2,300]Midweek[/glow]: Spike Dudley and Francine both found religion, I'm not sure what that means as far as their job. Godspeed.
1-26-2001
This week there was an backstage ambush on Ultimo Dragon and Sandman by Brock Lesnar, Vader and Jerry Lynn. Eric Bischoff asked Bret Hart for a match with Ken Shamrock at Guilty as Charged, the Hitman accepted.
Match results:
-Brock Lesnar and CM Punk over Tajiri and Kid Kash in Lesnar and Punk's debut
-Carlito Cool and John Cena over F.B.I.(Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke) in Cool and Cena's debut
-Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki over Tajiri and AJ Styles in Hayabusa and Shinzaki's debut
1-28-2001 - [glow=red,2,300]Guilty As Charged PPV[/glow] My first big event with ECW will finish my extensive series of debuts for my new workers. John Kronus made his debut as a client of the sinister minister, James Mitchell. The rest of the debuts were
through matches.
Match results:
-Dark match: FBI over Public enemy
-Samoa Joe over John Cena in Joe's debut
-Low Ki over Daniel Bryan in Low Ki's debut
-Christopher Daniels over AJ Styles in Daniels' debut
-Vader over Sandman in a tables match
-RVD and Ultimo Dragon over 2 Cold Scorpio and Jerry Lynn in a hardcore tag match
[glow=red,2,300]-*TV Championship[/glow]: Tommy Dreamer retains over CM Punk and Brock Lesnar in a triple threat ladder match with an interference from Beulah
[glow=red,2,300]-*ECW World Championship[/glow]: Bret Hart retains against Ken Shamrock after a botched interference by Eric Bischoff. As Bischoff and Shamrock were about to do a beat-down on the champ, Vince Russo made his debut for the save. Bret Hart seems to have a new ally in former WCW co-worker Vince Russo.

[glow=red,2,300]-Midweek:[/glow] I was able to negotiate with the network to upgrade to a late evening slot. Hulk Hogan and Tito Ortiz signed with WCW. I decided to sign Mickie James (31k) as a manager and also sign Curt Hennig (150k). Then I won a bidding war to bring about the return of Perry Saturn from the WWF (150k). These signings put me at 54 workers, I ought to slow down a bit.
