July 17 iMPACT
1. Dixie Carter opens the show alongside Rockstar Spud. She talks glowingly about EC3 and Mount Rushmore, only to get confronted by EGO. Roode tells her that just like all of her other experiments, Mount Rushmore are going to end up as a failure. Not because they aren't good, but because of the enemies that they made when they arrived. TNA belongs to EGO, it's their house, and no one walks into their house and tries to take over, especially when they're the pets of the incompetent president who ruins everything she touches. Mount Rushmore come out and surround the ring, one on each side. Then they strike, with Dixie ordering Spud to help out, then waving to the back for more help, bringing The BroMans and EC3 down as well. Mount Rushmore and Team Dixie gang up on EGO and beat them down. Rushmore toss EGO out of the ring and stand on each corner turnbuckle in celebration of the beatdown. MVP comes out, looking angry. He books EGO to take on EC3, Spud, and The BroMans in an 8-Man tag tonight, and says that if Rushmore gets involved, their new contracts will be voided and they'll be fired. [76%]
2. Chris Sabin defeated Sanada in a Singles Match. TNA World Champion AJ Styles is on commentary, as he scouts out the man that will challenge him on Sunday - Chris Sabin. It's a good showing for the Japanese star, with back and forth action that shows the potential that Sanada has as a wrestler. Unfortunately, the scales tip in the favor of Sabin as he bends the rules, hitting a low blow on Sanada behind the refs back that leads to the Cradle Shock from Sabin for the win. After the match, AJ Styles rises from commentary and applauds Sabin, but tells him that he has news. AJ says he had a meeting with MVP earlier today, and it's official. Sabin won't be able to do anything like that to him in the World Title match on Sunday. He's gonna have to EARN the title if he's going to win it, because rather than cheating his way to victory, he'll have to earn it by climbing a ladder and taking retrieving the TNA World Championship. [71%]
3. Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, and Gail Kim defeated Madison Rayne, Winter, and ODB in a Six-Knockouts Tag Team Match. Love is set to defend her Knockouts Title against Madison on Sunday, while Gail Kim has gotten the match that she wants against TNA newcomer Britani Knight. Tonight though, they're in tag action. Winter continues to freak out Angelina, allowing Rayne to take advantage by out-wrestling the champ. The end of the match comes when Madison hits a dive onto both Beautiful People on the outside. Winter kneels down next to Angelina and runs her hands thru Love's hair, while Gail and ODB remain in the ring. Gail reverses ODB's TKO and hits Eat Defeat for the win. [69%]
4. Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards defeated James Storm and Samuel Shaw in a Tag Team Match. On the order of MVP, whom The Cowboy superkicked two weeks ago, Storm had to take on The Wolves with a partner of his choosing. He didn't care who joined him, and opened it up for anyone to take the call - Shaw answered. Storm and Shaw don't get along at all, as Storm wants nothing to do with the creepy psychopath. This leads into the finish, as Storm watches Shaw get the hell beat out of him, not even attempting to make the save, letting The Wolves pick up the pinfall victory. After the match, The Cowboy complains into the camera about MVP's decisions, claiming that he's gonna knock MVP's lights out and take what's his at Destination X. [84%]
5. Magnus struts into MVP's office with a cocky grin on his face, talking about how he pinned the TNA World Champion AJ Styles last week in tag team action. As a result, he believes a title shot should be coming his way. MVP tells him the same thing he told Storm - he'll get his shot, but not until after Destination X. That being said, MVP was impressed by the tag victory, and with The Wolves needing an opponent for the Pay Per View, he feels like Magnus and Abyss deserve an opportunity at the titles... if they can beat LAX in a #1 contenders match later tonight. [79%]
6. Eric Young defeated Manik, Kenny King, and DJ Zema in a Fatal Four Way Match to advance to the X-Division Title match at Destination X. After coming out of a blood feud with Abyss successfully, and taking AJ Styles to the limit in a World Title match two weeks ago, EY comes into this match as the favorite, and he doesn't disappoint. As Adrian Satterly (Neville) watches on from ringside and Petey Williams watches on from the stage, they see EY emerge as the third man in their X Title match at the Pay Per View when he hits DJ Zema with a Piledriver for the win. Satterly extends his hand to EY after the match to wish him luck, and unlike Petey who brushed Adrian off last week, EY accepts as Petey sneers from the ramp. It'll be Adrian Satterly vs. Petey Williams vs. Eric Young for the X-Title at Destination X. [78%]
7. Backstage, Mount Rushmore (Adam Cole, Kevin Steen, The Young Bucks) cut a promo. They talk about wrestling EGO in a big 8-Man tag at Destination X, and it being a great proving ground to shut EGO up and show them that TNA isnt their company anymore, and that it's time for a new generation of stars to take over. They go on to say that since they aren't allowed to get involved in the match tonight, they're leaving, and doing so in a classy stretch limo thanks to Dixie Carter. Cole, in a nice suit, walks off like he belongs in the limo, while the Bucks swagger away playing air guitar, and Steen spits onto the camera lens that they were just talking into before pushing the camera man away and leaving. [81%]
8. EGO (Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Christopher Daniels, and Frankie Kazarian) defeated Ethan Carter III, Rockstar Spud, Robbie E, and Jessie Godderz in an 8-Man Tag Team Match. Earlier in the night, Director of operations MVP announced this match and ruled that Mount Rushmore would be released from their newly signed contracts if they got involved. EGO dominate this contest, with Roode pinning a helpless Spud to end the match after EC3 abandoned his teammates, wanting nothing to do with getting his ass kicked. Unfortunately, he backs right into Kurt Angle, who was waiting for him on the stage. Angle hits EC3 with the Angle Slam on the steel stage as EGO celebrate in the ring. [76%]
9. Magnus and Abyss defeated Homicide and Hernandez in a Tag Team Match to earn a shot at the TNA World Tag Team Championship. Coming off of a World Title run where Magnus had everyone else do the work for him, he's still getting used to having to take care of business himself. As a result, he barks orders at Abyss to do all the dirty work while he sits back and tries to remain comfortably un-involved from any of the heavy action. Unfortunately for him, it comes down to he and Homicide as Hernandez flies over the top rope with a Superman dive onto Abyss. There is a ton of god given ability underneath all of the conniving and manipulating though, and he shows it here by out-countering Homicide and putting The Notorious 187 away with the Mag Daddy Driver. Magnus and Abyss will wrestle The Wolves at Destination X for the World Tag Team Titles. [80%]
10. A video plays of Samoa Joe talking about Jeff Hardy, explaining that when he hits someone with the Muscle Buster - they stay down. When he locks someone in the Coquina Clutch - they tap out or pass out. Every single person, every single time... until Hardy. But, Joe says, that changes at Destination X, because he's tired of seeing Jeff Hardy keep getting up. Sunday, he ensures that Hardy stays down. "Hardy, this Sunday, Joe is gonna kill you." [82%]
11. AJ Styles defeated Mr Anderson in a Non Title Match. Desperate to prove his worth after a string of bad luck, Anderson is given a golden chance here, but can't capitalize against the World Champion. Styles, who is scheduled to defend his title against Chris Sabin in a Ladder Match at Destination X, unleashes his full arsenal against Anderson, leaving the brash loudmouth with no breathing room. In the end, AJ proves his worth as World Champion by putting Mr Anderson away with the Styles Clash. After the match however, Chris Sabin - who wasn't happy at all about his title shot being made into a Ladder match, attacks AJ with a ladder, knocking him out. He places the ladder over AJ, trapping him, as he climbs up and poses with the World Title. The announcers note that Styles keeps finding himself staring at the lights as the show ends, wondering if he'll be able to reverse that trend on Sunday against Chris Sabin. [84%]
