We've all gotten hit by it. An injury ... a worker goes to Japan ... checks into rehab ... gets signed away ... retires ... something, sometime, somehow, will inevitably take your long, well-planned angle and crap all over it, and you'll have to re-write it entirely.
So ... what are some of the angles you were going to run before something screwed them up?

I cant for the life of me think of what I was going to do, but Bill Alfonso retiring changed my entire diary. Him leaving gave me reason to bring in Edge, storyline wise. Its the reason AJ and Tomko joined the Syndicate and Christian turned face. Its the reason Mick Foley is commissioner, and so on. And im almost positive the whole CoH storyline couldnt have taken place under Alfonso. So it totally put me in a different direction. Still, I like the idea of a sort of Corporation/Evolution mix. Authority(Alfonso), Crown Jewel(Stylez), Mentor(Angle), Lackey/Midcard(Kennedy) Speaking of the CoH angle... Manson would NOT have been the CoH's main opposition if he wasnt hurt right after a match with Daniels in the very early stages of the angle. That gave me fuel for revenge and a good start to a story. It would have been CM Punk, who would have gotten the title shot hes been bitching about for a year now, and would have won the world title in place of Manson. Obviously, that means hed have never turned heel either, so Eddie Kingston would probably still be around. Hmm.. theres got to be something useful I can post. Im sure I have an angle somewhere that got screwed up via injury.. (well, Hero's injury just now might have delayed an angle like, a whole year, but im still going to try and run the angle, so )

Some of the things that have changed for me ...
Colt Cabana getting injured turned my main event scene upside down. I don't remember where I was going with him, but his injury made a hole that allowed Ruckus to move up.
The 10-month Whitmer/Hero feud would've never happened if Whitmer hadn't gotten suspended for a month a few days after their Cell match. By calling it an injury in kayfabe, it gave me a great revenge angle.
Mark Briscoe getting injured screwed up the initial formation of The Honor Guard. The Briscoes were supposed to be where The Elite are now. So I was forced to push Jay as a singles and bring in Sydal/Evans.
The biggest one, though, was Terry Funk getting injured. Originally, Terry Funk was supposed replace Sid Vicious as Commissioner, and he would've been the leader and architect of The Honor Guard. His injury forced me to alter the group's initial months entirely, bring in Dillon and then Callis.
Jed Shaffer ~So, why did you dump Kingston?

I basically just had absolutely nothing for him. He didnt fit in at all with where i wanted to go and what i wanted to do. He had already been in the title scene, and I had no plans of giving him the belt, so he wasnt even that useful as a stopgap in between big PPVs. Punks turn allowed me a way to get rid of him without me just letting him sit there for a while and do nothing. Id have eventually come up with something, but i HATE when i have really over guys just sitting there doing nothing.
And boy, The Briscoes together in the HG would give it an extra shot in the arm. Sydal and Evans are fine, but Briscoes >>>> them.

Well, I don't think the Briscoes could've pulled off the chicken-s**t, elitist snob gimmicks like Sydal and Evans are, but yes, as a tag team, they woulda been so much better. Alas. As for Kingston, fair. It was a shame to see him go, though, being a fan of his. Maybe he can come back someday. Perhaps bring him in with BLKOUT? Jed Shaffer ~I totally forgot Joey Ryan's injury, too. That changed his career entirely. If he hadn't had his short injury, the 5-Minute Challenge Championship and the dissolution of Studio 54 probably wouldn't have happened.

In my TWE game:
Long Arm Of The Law (David Cash AKA Kid Kash and Mike Moloney AKA EZ Money had just won the tag straps and where set to feud with Detroit Times (AKA Motorcity Machine Guns) however ECW2 stole both members of Long Arm Of The Law and Alex Shelley, which forced me to put the straps on Hollywood Law (John Hennigan and Shelton Benjamin) and push Sabin as a singles competitor.
Well it worked and I've brought Shelley and LAOTL back (Shelley was a heel this time).

I had a big long Dudleyz VS Briscoes feud planned out that would have touched every other feud in the company, and even resulted in some big changes. Then Devon got hurt in their first match, so I had to scrap the entire angle, and cut both men due to them costing way too much.
Jimmy Jacobs going to rehab for cocaine addiction changed his feud with Aries. It worked out for the better though as it gave me sometime to think about the best ending, which of course came from Gabe Sapolsky himself.
I had a Davey/Strong match planned for GBH that would have kicked things up a notch between them, but then he decided to sign with TNA. I've gotten him back however, so it's going ahead as planned soon enough.
Christian Cage was supposed to come in months ago, but he got injured and it didn't make sense to bring him back until now.

If you haven't read my latest entry (December 14, 2009), go read that first. Otherwise, there's a spoiler here.
So, Colton was one of the people who suddenly got pissy and didn't want to be in ROH anymore. This derailed several things:
1) Nigel McGuinness and Colton were set to have a feud through February. Colton would get the win at Final Battle, McGuinness would eliminate him in the Royal Rumble at A New Level, and that'd lead to the rematch.
2) If you've read the newest diary, you know how the show ends. Well, you can follow the breadcrumbs. That wouldn't be happening if Colton were still around (and you know who else).
3) Colton was set to get the Diesel push in the Rumble. Who stopped the run of eliminations would be Colton's post-McGuinness feud. Who it is, I can't say.
Thanks a bunch, Colton. Ya big crybaby. SO MUCH REPLANNING.
Jed Shaffer ~Hope you and Chance Beckett and Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio and Joey Ryan and Shawn Michaels fall down a flight of stairs while locked in a port-a-potty.

~Hope you and Chance Beckett and Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio and Joey Ryan and Shawn Michaels fall down a flight of stairs while locked in a port-a-potty. I think there's enough people in that port-a-potty and no one would actually get hurt. They'd just climb out and complain about how you booked the fall.

Jed Shaffer ~I don't want them signed by TNA. I'd rather IWC, to come up on TNA's backside and help take them down.
